Urzung Sir,
By your posts, in various forums of HFs, I can make out that you are the oldest member of this forum. I also observe from your prompt replies that you still have a very sharp memory and wide knowledge about the songs and incidents of an era prior to 1950. Will look forward to you for providing details about these songs because the records are quite old and some of them donot bear the necessary details.
I have heard another record....it was a great song.......great in the sense that during my childhood in Firozepur....I could hear this song in every function or marriage.....that was in seventies and the song would have been old by more than twenty years at that time itself.
I am referring to the song sung by another great one..... GM Durrani and I think he was the first singer in the hindi movies who came out of the KL Sehgal's shadow and sang in his own distinct style which helped the Rafi and others to follow suit.
The song is .......RUKHI SUKHI KHA GOPALA GHADE DA PANI PI.
Would like to know more about this song
Sorry for not having been free to attend to your post promptly.
Thanks for your good words but believe me I know very little.
I heard this fun song many times from Amritsar/Jalundhar stations.
I am not sure if this was sung by GMD. Dharmvir Ji has very kindly
given the movie name and its avaiability.
GMD's good songs may be found in Shama , Sohni Mahinwal and
Heer Raanjha. One of these days I will post a ghazal by him:
