It's an wonderful Forum. But we need more & more singers & musicians to participate here who can explain different technical matters regarding singing. It will help those (Of course, I m one of them) who love & enjoy singing.

Rgds,

First of all, let me begin by busting the myth of VOICE QUALITY. Non thinking persons will make you believe that one is "born with" great voice and nonsense like that, but actually the only thing that a musician need to be "born with" is the sense of rhythm and meter, and to a lesser extent - the sense of relative pitch (sur), which is essentially a sense of tonality. I used the terms "lesser extent" because one need not be born with sur; even the sense of sur can be developed by something called intense listening of instrumental music of all sorts, and riyaz.

Why instrumental music? Because instruments are almost always more perfectly tuned than a voice ( none can sing with a besura accompaniment!).

You may ask "then what about voice quality? How to develop it if someone does not have a "good" voice?

I ' ll try to answer, but not before someone relly asks! biggrin.gif
