This movie might be Sonbai ni chundadi. Sonbai is the girl's name. This movie came out in 1976 and Ashit Desai who was the male singer for the movie songs got Best playback singer's award.

Btw, the corrent film name spelling would be "Manek Stambh" - I think its a little piece of wood that looks like a little pole (khambha) about 6-8 inches in height that is used in the marriage ceremony.

Just saw the post. I just copied the info on the cd cover!!!
But why is a pole used in a marriage ceremony?

It's part of a pre-ceremony rituals that is done to bring peace and good luck inside home (I am guessing) May be BJ or some other Guj person would know?

What i meant was
Ashaji's voice has a distinct "khanak" (ringing) and when blended with the folk tunes of gujarat, it comes out great !
