Irecently got news that Geeta sang in LACHCHHI-a punjabi film.

I think there where 5 Songs in "Lachhi"

1 Nale Lambi te kali - lata
2 Dil Lai gay koi - Rafi
3 Meri Lagdi kisena - Shamshad
4 kali kanghi naal - Lata & Rafi
5 Jagwala mela yaro - Rafi

i have read in many articles that geetaji sang in punjabi films although i have not heard any of her punjabi songs.in fifties and sixties hansraj behl and sardul kwatra gave music for lot of punjabi films and geetaji was one of their favourite artistes so it is likely that she must have sung for them.recently hmv has released lot of old punjabi film stuff;but its mostly rafi,shamshad,surinder kaur,asha and mahendra kapoor.a few songs of lataji have also been released but i have not found any song of geetaji yet.

Go to Heer Raanjha of 1946. MD Aziz Hindi left his job incomplete
and Rehman Verma and Khayam ( Verma Ji, Sharma Ji) were
asked to complete it. They composed a Pujabi courus song led by
Geeta Roy: uD puD jaaneyaaN, ghyo khaND khaaneyaaN
** Information taken from a book ' Jahan e Fun' by Zahoor Chaudhry,
published in Lahore last year. It is a collection of his articles on singers
and music composers published previously in a monthly magazine. **

It is also claimed in that artcle on Rehman Verma, that 'kaahe ko bayaahii
bides' by Lata in that movie was also composed by VJSJ though records
do no mention their name.

so the songs sung by geetaji in heer-ranjha[48] are-
1]-ud pud jaaniya,dhyuoon khand khaniyaan-geeta,chorus,
2]-dil yoon yoon karta hai ki dil yoon yoon-geeta,g m durrani,
3]-kafas ki qaid mein humko hai yaade aashiyaan baki-geeta,g m durrani,
4]-dil bujha jata hai,naashaad hua jaata hai-geeta,


recently a friend told me that geetaji had sung two shabads also[non-film,punjabi].

I have not heard ' qafas kii qaid me.n' but have heard another Geeta,
Durrani duet ' terii zaat hai akbarii sarwarii , merii baar kyon der itanii
karii'.
just btw, in # 1 the words used are ' ghyo =ghee and khanD=sugar'.

the two shabads she sang are-

1]-raam siu kar preet,
2]-kahe re ban khojan jaai

both were composed by s mohinder with the permission of S.G.P.C [sikh gurudwara prabandhak committee].


she sang a duet in lacchi[1949] with lataji-sharabe ishq ho jaati hai,but it was in urdu/hind not in punjabi.
