Santaanam (1955) - A Telugu Film
L.V. Pradsad's super hit "Beti Bete (1964)" was based on this hit Telugu film. One of the major highlight of this film was that Lata sang a solo and a duet with Ghantasala. These were the same songs Lata sang in the Hindi version, "Aaj Kal Mein Dhal Gaya". I am uploading all the songs except for one in two back-to-back posts. The oen I am not posting is the song by Lata and Ghantasla. I have this duet but unfortunately its quality is so horrible that I have decided not to upload it. Instead I am requesting members to share this song if they have it, only a decent quality one please. The details of this song are shown in red italics in the table below. Apart from the great song by Lata, "Nidura Pora Tammuda", I have one of my very favorite songs in this album. This is the solo by the great Ghantasala, "Challani Vennela Lo". The one I am uploading here is of real excellent quality. This song with its very beautiful, richly romantic lyrics is the song to hear from the divine voice of Ghantasala. A song for the ages to remember. Here is a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

(Dharmendra) Phool aur Patthar (1966)
This was a star making movie for Dharmendra. Interestingly he was the second choice for the role as Sunil Dutt was not immediately available to play the lead. I am glad this happened. Sunil was a fine actor but not for these kind of roles. This role in no way was meant for him. It was pure Dharmendra's. Dharmendra brings the ruggedness and the manliness with his personality and ignites the screen in some scenes. Much before Salman Khan made it popular to take off his shirt to show off his physique even if it is not necessary to do, Dharmendra did this in this movie in a very unforgettable scene. He did this not to show off his physique but because the scene demanded it. O.P. Ralhan who produced, directed, also acted in the movie. While making the movie he had differences with Dharmendra. Dharam almost quit the movie in protest. However better senses prevailed. Many think that this was because Dharam was romantically involved with Meena as she was going through a rough time in her marriage. Whatever the reasons are, in the end when the movie was completed it became a sensational hit. Dharam was even nominated as the Best Actor Filmfare Award for his performance. However, he lost to Dev Anand who took the award for the fine movie "Guide". The music by Ravi also helped the movie's popularity immensely. All Asha's numbers became very popular and so was Rafi Saab's solo "Mere Dil Ke Andar". I am uploading all of the songs from an original soundtrack album below. For some reason the quality of one of the songs, "Tum Kaun", is not that crisp. If you can bear with it for about a minute or so, which is mostly music, then the song seems to be alright. Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

"Sheeshe Se Pee" is worth watching the movie for all by itself: my favorite Shashikala number of all time.
Thanks for these |
