(Sunil) Aaj Aur Kal (1963)
Ravi continues his great form that produced so many memorable albums in 50's and 60's. This was more so especially whenever he got together with the lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. Their combination resulted in so many unforgettable songs that are still enjoyed today for their literary richness, beautiful melodies, and great singing. Take for example this album. One after another, all songs from this album are just sheer beautiful to listen to. It is almost like a hit parade. Rafi Saab has a couple lovely solos in "Itni Haseen" and "Yeh Vaadiyaan". Asha has three great solos in "Maut Kitni", "Mohe Chhedo Na", and "Mujhe Gale Se". The duet version of the song "Mujhe Gale Se" is another unforgettable song from this album. I will upload songs from this original soundtrack album in the first post. In the second post, I will upload few of the extended version songs. Now for the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) |

It was an adaptation of a famous Marathi play सुंदर मी होणार "Sundar mee honaar" (I will become beautiful) written by Pu La Deshpande (who has been titled as महाराष्ट्राचे लाडके व्यक्तिमत्व "the dear personality of Maharashtra"). Here is the summary of the film from Wikipedia: The play highlights the struggle of a middle-aged woman who is unable to walk because of an ailment. She is a daughter of a King or Zamindar of a small princely state in India. The play captures the conflict between her father and her brothers, and depicts changes in their lives after the British Raj took over their princely state. A poet, who is a pen friend of the protagonist, helps her gain confidence which enables her to start walking again. More details about this great all-rounder personality are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purushottam_Laxman_Deshpande Thanks for your consistent efforts. I always love to share whatever little information I have about a film, an artist or a song. Since your posts are so informative and well designed, I feel it is a good idea to add such snippets of information wherever available. Just doing my bit (like the squirrel who helped Lord Ram and his army to build the bridge to Lanka). Cheers Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

I suppose, Ravi Sahab composed male songs for film 'Aaj Aur Kal' in the singing style of Mahendra Kapoor, specially 'Ye Waadiyaan Ye Fizaayen' & 'Itni Haseen Itni Jawaan Raat'. Perhaps during recording of these songs Mahendra Sahab was not available(may be due to ill health) . I don't dare to comment on SP's efforts, dedication & quality uploads USR Dil Shaad Tha Ke Phool Khilenge Bahaar Mein

But you may have something there which is making me think about the possibility. But the very next thought is to dismiss that altogether from my mind that it really could have happened that way. (Dharmendra) Aaye Din Bahaar Ke (1966)
Here is a very beautiful album from LP where every song was a hit. Even today, after neraly 44 years, they haven't lost their luster. There are several tracks in this album that are worth mentioning. The title song,"Suno Sajna", is just an absolute beauty by Lata. These are the type of songs she is so great at and I don't think anyone can come close to her for singing such songs. Asha has a lovely number in "Khat Likh De". Rafi Saab has two great solos in "Gulshan Ki" and "Mere Dushman". Another fine song is the duet by Lata and Mahendra, "Yeh Kali". These and other songs from the original sound track album I am uploading here in two back-to-back posts. Now for the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...
