(Manoj) Woh Kaun Thi? (1964)
Here is one of my favorite albums of Madan Mohanji where every song is delightfully melodious. It has one of my very favorite songs of Lataji, "Lag Jaa Gale". A subliminal listening experience. Haunting. Heart hugging. Melancholic. All in one. A thing of sheer beauty. I am uploading these songs on request in two back-to-back posts. The first post contains songs from this film, all except for one from an original soundtrack album. The second post contains several specials. Here are the songs in the first post... (Sunil) Laila (1984)
I am uploading songs from this film ripped from a DVD. "Laila" was produced and directed by Saawan Kumar who also wrote its story and penned its lyrics. Kumar made many movies most of which are very forgettable. He enjoyed unexpected success with Rajesh Khanna's "Souten" in 1983 that revived Khanna's career briefly. The music for "Laila" was provided by his that time wife Usha Khanna. The titles claim that the hero of the film, Anil Kapoor, was being introduced in this film. But Anil had several other movies released before this. Examples include "Hum Paanch (1980)" and "Shakti (1982)". May be the movie was started before 1980 when Anil was new to Hindi films.
