Jaidev had not been at very good terms with Lata when word leaked out that Jaidev was planning to offer "Allah Tero Naam" to M S Subbalaxmi. When Lata heard of this, she, in her own charming way dissuaded Jaidev from calling M S S. She reportedly said something of why go outside of the "Family" when a "nacheez" like Lata was available. The greats like Lata had to be brilliant at their profession but they also had the sixth sense of preventing disaster. Who knows what would have happened if MSS has started in Hindi movies! Nandi, thanks for the note. MSS was a towering legend. She didn't need to sing in Hindi films to prove her prowess. She left enough of her work for generations to enjoy. There was nobody like her before, or since then. A great singing genius. Cheers, S Subhalaksmi Ji is only singer having Bharat Ratna award !!! She is truly a towering legend USR Dil Shaad Tha Ke Phool Khilenge Bahaar Mein

(Dev) Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1961)
The songs from this film became a huge hit. However the movie didn't. I am uploading these songs in three back-to-back posts. The first two contain songs from the film. The third has some of the extended versions. Please note that the quality of these songs is variable from fair to good. I am uploading poorer quality songs in a lower bit rate. Also, Lata's version of "Tum Toh Dil Ki" is usually published as a solo in various CD collections. However, this is essentially the same as the duet version with Talat's humming that precedes and trails the song removed. Incidentally, I am including the duet version from the film also here. Here are the songs in the first post... Attached image(s) |

(Kishore) Mr. X in Bombay (1964)
The music director duo Laxmikant & Pyarelal who made their stunning debut with "Parasmani" the previous year were busy giving music to several films following its unprecedented success. But the assignments came for "B" grade films. Even though most films made less than average business, their music remained a strong feature in all of them. This movie was one of them. Interestingly, this very same year, LP came up with the music score for their award winning "Dosti" that propelled them to the richly deserved position of ace music directors status. This was a very poor film except for its beautiful music. The song "Mere Mehboob" is Kishoreda's one of all time classics. There are many others that are equally good in this film. I am uploading these songs in three back-to-back posts. The first post contains songs from the film from an original soundtrack album. The second post contains some specials. The third post contains several instrumentals of the song "Mere Mehboob". Here are the songs in the first post... Attached image(s) |

Here are some specials from this film. Please note that the full version of "Mere Mehboob" is just the two parts uploaded in the first post combined. Also, the concert song of Kishoreda has inferior quality. Here are these songs... Attached image(s) |

(Dev) Asli-Naqli (1962)
This simple story of discovering ones own true personal identity was directed by Hirishikesh Mukherjee. The movie has the regular drama but the show stealer was its music. Shankar & Jaikishan composed songs for this film that were all huge hits. The appeal of Sadhana's innocent looking charm with Dev's usual savvy helped the movie to become a modest success. I am uploading songs from this film in three back-to-back posts. The first post contains all songs from the film from an original soundtrack album. The second post contains some of the musical clips from the film. The third post contains extended versions of the songs. Here are the songs in the first post... Attached image(s) |

(Kishore) Hum Sab Ustad Hain (1965)
Like their outing together the previous year for "Mr. X in Bombay", this time also the team of Kishoreda & LP click. However, as in the case of "Mr. X", this movie also was a dud. I am uploading beautiful songs from this film from an original soundtrack album in two back-to-back posts. The first post contains all songs from the film. The second post contains some specials. Here are the songs from this fine album... Attached image(s) |
