(Dev) Do Sitare (1951)

Here is Anilda's beautiful album. There are several nice songs in this album. All songs are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Please be warned that a couple of songs are of inferior quality. Even multiple cleanings couldn't help get rid of that static hiss.

This is another movie starring the hot pair of Suraiya & Dev. Suraiya has three solos, just beautiful. Another solo I like is that of Meena Kapoor. A beautiful rendering.

Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

(Dilip) Footpath (1953)

Here is one of the early albums of Khayyam Saab that has some very nice songs. Standout tracks in the album are Talat Saab's solo "Shaam-E-Gham" and Asha's "Suhaana Hai". All these songs are by the courtesy of the Forum members. Thank you. Hare are these songs ...

As you have rightly mentioned, the song "Sham E Gham ki Qasam" is the highlight of the album. IMHO, it is one of the top notch songs of Talat sahab! Majrooh sahab, Khayyam sahab and Talat sahab have given us this timeless classic!

A little trivia about the song "Kaisa jaadu daala re" from the film Foot Paath (1953). I recently saw the video of this song on YT and was shocked at the "bold" presentation on the screen!

Wow, that is "bold" (I like the word) for a Hindi film, by any standards. I guess it is not a big deal for films from the 90s and later, but I cannot recall a scene like this even in mainstream cinema in the 80s. It is not like there is anything obscene per-se, but it is forward for the times and the culture.

SB
Of course it is filmed very nicely and there is nothing obscene or anything like that (not even titillating). I was just hit by the surprise element of it..

Parag & SB, this indeed was very surprising to me. One would think that folks would flock to see this movie for a scene like this. But the movie was a commercial failure. That just shows that people can see through the gloss and separate class.

My 2 paise worth.

Cheers,
S

(Kishore) Bhagam Bhag (1956)

The comedian-actor Bhagwan who made a fortune with "Albela" in 1951, besides acting in it which he produced as well as directed, squandered away most of his wealth to near bankruptcy on a string of movies he made that didn't capture the same magic. Comparitively speaking, this movie which he also produced and directed, did modest business mainly beacuse of some fine music and the chemistry between Kishoreda and Bhagwan.

I am uploading all of the songs from this album. The quality of some of the songs is not up to the mark. I tried to clean them but originals I downloaded were so bad, it only helped a bit. Also, in some songs there are skips. Hoever, with all these real problems, the listening pleasue of these songs is not completely lost as overall quality is still bearable.

There are several nice tracks in this album. I like both of the songs sung by Rai Saab and Kishoreda together. The song by Rafi Saab and Batish is also worth noting.

Now for the details of these songs and the songs themselves ...

(Kishore) Char Paise (1955)

I am not sure who this music director B.D. Burman is. Did he give music to any other movies besides this one? Is he realted to the legendary Burmans? If someone knows more, please enlighten. Thanks.

Irrespective of who this music director is, this album has some nice songs by Lata. Of her four solos, I like three of them. Only weak song by Lata is "Tere Liye". Kishore has only one song, but it is just a routine song for him. Also, Asha's song is not that bad either.

Here are these songs ...

I too don't know anything about this MD, except that he was the MD for this film. But, per my record, his name is V D Varmaan...

May be someone else can illuminate on this if they have any information about this.

B. D. Burman has given music for only this film . He is no way related to "Burmans' family. Lata ji is very fond of him.

Regards,
Yogi
