Another MD missed out is Ali Akbar Khan. Geeta ji sang 3 songs for him in Humsafar 1953.
Best Regards

Great news! I spoke with Tushar Bhatia ji today and discussed this idea of "100 composers: 100 songs" with him. Though it is difficult, he will be trying to approach contacts at RPG to see if they will be willing to release this compilation. I will be sending the formal proposal to Tushar ji who will review it and then take it forward. Not sure if RPG will accept it or not, but we are doing our bit to take the heritage of Geeta ji's songs to as many music lovers as possible. Hoping for the best! Parag P.S. Tushar ji was associated with HMV and was instrumental in bringing out several compilations of songs of Geeta ji. More details about him are here: http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?showtopic=82229 Praying to God that the decision makers at RPG will like this proposal and accept it. Suresh ji,
Thanks for echoing my sentiments. This is what I believe in karmanye vadhika raste, Ma phaleshu kadachana; ma karma phala he tur bhuh, ma te sangvasta karmani ("Seek to perform your duty, but lay not claim on its fruits. Be you not the producer of the fruits of karma , neither shall you lean towards inaction") Let us give a sincere attempt at this and see what happens! Came to know that Geeta ji sang for one more composer in Bengali. She sang 2 non-film songs for him in the year 1949. The name of the composer is Jiban Bandyopadhyay.

Hi Parag Would you be able to scan the cover of Ateetna Sambharna? I will transalate it for you. I am a gujju. The meaning of the CD is "memories from the past" Bhavita It will be nice if some one with the correct tags for Bangla (and Gujrati) songs check for the above composers. In Gujrati also, I think she has sung for a few composers other than Avinash Vyas. I have the CD of "Ateetna Sambharna" but the details are in Gujrati script, which I can not read. Requesting help from forum members. Thanks Parag

Here is the scanned image of the backside of the CD cover. Please check the names of all the composers other than Avinash Vyas ji. Thanks in advance. Best Regards Parag Attached image(s) Please visit www.geetadutt.com

Song No 4 and 7 seem to be different MDs.
4 appears to be a surname Merchant and no 7 maybe named Jagdeep. Can't make out more. Bad reader of gujrati. Best Regards

Wonderful. So we have found 2 more composers: Jagdeep Virani and Ajit Merchant for whom Geeta ji has sung. Thanks Bhavita for the help.
Nice to see that the list of composers for whom Geeta ji has sung is growing. It is very well possible that she might have sung for close to 175 different composers singing in various languages. Thanks to all for your immense contributions towards this topic. Best Regards Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

parag, add ''p.ramakant'' for rupaya[1950]-tiki huyi thi jinpe nazarein. regards, mahesh I read somewhere that P. Ramakant might be same as R. Paigankar, and was probably as assistant to CR. Also read that all songs composed under the name P. Ramakant were probably by CR himself. Of course, I am not sure about these facts. Aditya My Blog - http://urgetofly.blogspirit.com
