Sargam (1979)

This was a remake of Vishwanath's own Telugu movie, "Siri Siri Muvva", made an year earlier. This is one of the rare successes Vishwanath enjoyed in Hindi movies. The main reason for this was its beautiful music and the fine performances by the principal actors. Jaya Parada may have played a mute girl in this movie, but with dashing looks and dazzling dances she leaves an eloquent impression on the viewer. LP won a Filmfare award for its music.

There are seven songs in this movie. Great Rafi Saab appears in all of them, four solos and three duets with Lataji. Because of the length of the songs, I am uploading them in two back-to-back posts. Also, in the second post, I am including a solo version of the song "Dafliwale" which was recorded live by Lata in 1981 and appeared in an album.

Now for details of the first posting and the songs themselves ...

The album of thr 70's dominated by the voice of the king....kahan tera insaaf hai.....a rare beauty that reminds of how only the powerhouse of singing, Rafisaab could deliver this incredible rendition.

Hum tho chale pardes.....another beauty with all the qualities of how singing should be. LP - shows how their music reigned supreme in that era and years before that.

The biggest hit of the 70's and one of the most successfull film for rishikkapoor.

PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM.
