(Waheeda) Shagoon (1964)

Here is the combination of Sahir & Khayyam that always promised great things and each time the team delivered. For example, "Phir Subah Hogi" and "Kabhi Kabhie" come immediately to mind. The songs of "Shagoon" does have similar magic in them. Every song is an utter delight. There are two beautiful solos each by Suman Kalyanpur, Jagjit Kaur and Rafi Saab. Couple of great duets too. Jagjit Kaur sings her heart out in "Tum Apna Ranj-O-Gham". That delightful romantic duet of Suman Kalyanpur with Rafi Saab, "Parbaton Ke Pedon Pe" paints an unforgettable picture. The two solos by Rafi Saab, "Tum Chali Jaaoge" and "Yeh Raat Bahut Rangeen Sahi", are just divine. On and on ...

I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts. The first post has songs from the original soundtrack album. The second post has some extended version songs.

Now for the first set of songs ...

(Sadhana) Man-Mauji (1962)

Here is a beauty from Madan Mohan ji. The movie boasts several perennially pleasing songs. Lataji's solos, "Chanda Jaa" and "Main To Tum Sang" are some of her great work for Mohan Saab. Also, Kishore da's "Zaroorat Hai" is another beauty.

This movie was based on the Telugu hit "Donga Ramudu". In Hindi, in spite of its beautiful songs, the movie didn't become as popular. I will upload songs from the Telugu movie in this section following the uploads of these songs.

Here is a description of the songs and the songs themselves ...

(Asha) Love in Tokyo (1966)

Most of these movies in mid-60's became runaway hits thanks to the great music they boasted. This is an example of such a movie. Shankar & Jaikishan were riding the height of their creativity and anything they did during this period just proved perennially pleasing. The youthful and bubbly music they composed for movie after movie during this time is a testimonial for their genius.

The songs from this album were huge hits. There are several hummable songs. I have two of my favorites in this album. One of them is Lata's "Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye Humdum". It is an absoulte beauty enlivened by the rich lyrics of Hastar Jaipuri and sweet singing of Lataji. Another dear favorite of mine is Rafi Saab's solo, "Aaja Re Aa Zara Aa". Youthful and bubbly exuberance spills all over from the rich voice of Rafi Saab and the song at once becomes very endearing. Rafi Saab, songs like these and thousands of others you put your heart into in singing with so much emotion, no wonder made you one of our greatest singers of our times. Love it. Forever.

I will upload these songs in two back-to-back postings. Here is the first set ...

This is an album of the millenium, beautiful songs, unbelivable singing and what can one say about Rafisaab;s voice, his singing, simply unmatched. O mere Shah e Kubaan, a song no mortal voice could even achieve 10% of what Rafisaab has. Well this is true for thousands of songs of the emperor of singing.
Muje tum milgaye humdum is all time fac Lata song.

PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM.
