This is another rehash of the movie "Bahurani" made in 1963, albeit in a modern setting. It is based on the famous Bengali novel "Swayamsiddha" which was made into a movie in almost all Indian languages. The distinguishing feature of this movie was its music by Bappi Lahiri. There are some lovely songs in this album. The song "Thoda Resham Lagta Hai" became even more poplar after it was used in the album "Addictive" as an unofficial remix by the group "Truth Hurts" in 2002, nearly 21 years after the release of the movie. Dilip Kumar, one of the most brilliant actors of our times, was going through a patch of rough period starting in 70's with a string of flops in a row. Manoj Kumar, who held Dilip in high esteem and as his hero from his childhood, took him to play his father in this movie that he co-wrote, produced, and directed. The movie with a patriotic theme and had a huge cast assembled for it. It worked and became a huge hit. This revived Dilip's career that saw him appear in several successful films after this one.
