Sahrmila along with Shashi Kapoor appeared in this award winning movie. Per one of our members, Sangeetji, there are no songs in this movie. |

(Zeenat) Bhavani Junction (1985)
A Hollywood movie called “Bhowani Junction” was made in 1956 that had the backdrop of British withdrawal from India. The Indian Government thought the movie was controversial in nature (it dealt with the sensitive issue of Anglo-Indians) and refused permission for it to be shot in India. Then the production decided to move to Pakistan where the entire movie was shot. The movie had mixed reception following its release and was totally banned in India from exhibition. I am not sure whether it was ever lifted. The Hindi film, even though it borrows its title from that English film (spelled differently), is not based on that film. Instead it is actually a direct lift from another Hollywood classic, a Western, called “Last Train from Gun Hill” made in 1959. It starred Kirk Douglas (Shatrughan Sinha reprised that role in Hindi) and Anthony Quinn (Shashi Kapoor in Hindi) as the chief antagonists and was directed by John Sturgess who also directed classics like “The Gunfight at O.K. Corral (1957)”, “The Magnificent Seven (1960)”, and “The Great Escape (1963)”. This film had only four songs. Bappi Lahiri, the music director for the movie, was just doing best the things he can do; several rock n roll numbers. Three out of these four songs were contributed by the members of our Forum. Thank you all. The other song came from CD collections. Here are the songs… Attached image(s) |

(Asha) Khel Muqaddar Ka (1981) Here are the songs from this album... I don't think Sardul Kwatra composed for this film. The MD is most likely Shyam Sagar. My Blog - http://urgetofly.blogspirit.com

(Mala) Badshah (1954)
I am re-uploading these songs from the director Amiya Chakraborty ("Daag (1952)", "Dekh Kabira Roya (1957)", and "Kathputli (1957)") on request. I am including a special version of "Rula Kar" with a few seconds introduction (aalaap) by Lata. Some of these songs are thanks to the courtesy of the Forum members... Attached image(s) |

(Sadhana) Ek Musafir Ek Hasina (1962)
This is one of my favorite albums of OP. All songs were super hit when the film was initially released. After nearly 50 years, they still have not lost their appeal. They sound fresh as if they were recorded recently. Alas, we don't have the great OP Saab anymore. We also don't have among us that great singer Rafi Saab. The movie with such superb songs and beautiful Sadhana leading the way didn't do much financially. It was made by the hit film maker Shashidhar Mukherjee (father of Joy Mukherjee) and was directed by Raj Khosla. It managed to do only a modest business. I am uploading these songs (except for a couple of instrumentals) from an original soundtrack album in two back-to-back posts. Here is a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves... Attached image(s) |
