Hi,

This song is not from Meherbaan. Rest all are absolutely perfect. Verified from HFGK.

(Rekha) Dharam Karam (1975)

Here is a Burman composing music for a Raj Kapoor film. This happened so rarely. SD gave music to some films of Raj Kapoor during his early career. He even had Raj sing songs. This time it is RD giving music. It also happens to be a Raj Kapoor's film. There are several nice songs in this album. Unfortunately their association didn't last long. It may be because the movie didn't do that well. But it is definitely not because of its music. There are several good numbers in it, including the chartbuster, "Ek Din Bik Jaayega".
I am uploading this and other songs from this fine album in two back-to-back posts.

Now for the first set of songs ...

Concluding Songs from "Dharam Karam (1975)" ...

Here are the rest of the songs from this fine album. I am also including here a version song of "Tere Humsafar" with an introduction by Raj Kapoor. Here Raj says a few words of how he works to have good music composed for his films. This one is taken from the album "Legends: Raj Kapoor - The Showman (CD5)".

Now for the songs ...

Hi,

In all probabilities "Na ho bas mein" & "Ek din bik jayega part 2" are one and the same song.

(Saira) Hera Pheri (1976)

After this movie Saira acted only in three others. In most of her previous outings, she was hardly noticeable, mostly because she looked disinterested, appeared very dull and indifferent to the proceedings. But as the luck has it, she was in good company here with both Amitabh's and Vinod Khanna's careers on the rise. The movie became a huge hit because of the star power these two had. Together, Amitabh and Vinod made six movies with most of them winners. Prakash Mehra who was responsible for giving Amitabh his first big break and a hit as the angry young man in "Zanjeer (1973)" was the director of this movie. He signed Amitabh first and then went to see Vinod to sign him up for the other role. After learning that Amitabh already signed in, Vinod insisted that he be paid slightly more than Amitabh. Mehra agreed.

This mostly fun-filled movie had some pretty good songs. I am uploading these from an original soundtrack album below. Here is a description of these songs and the songs themselves ...

(Sharmila) Amanush (1975)

Here is another great film by Shakti Samanta who was on a roll ever since he hit the bulls eye in 1969 with the record breaking "Aradhana". During this period he made a spate of good movies with some fine stories, good acting, and great music to go with them. This movie, "Amanush", was no exception. This time he roped in to play the male lead the great Bengali actor Uttam Kumar. In the title role, with his rugged looks and all, he was simply superb.

The music for this film was composed by Shyamal Mitra. Shakti moved away from the Burmans for this movie but the results were no different. It has great music and some unforgettable songs. I wonder why Mitraji didn't give music to more Hindi films. The movie was nominated for several Filmfare awards but eventually won two. One for Kishoreda's song "Dil Aisa" and for Indeewar, lyrics of the same song.

I am uploading the songs from an original soundtrack album in the first post. In the second post, I am uploading a couple of specials.

Now for the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...

Cocluding Songs from "Amanush (1975)" ...

I am uploading here a couple of specials in this post. One of them is a version song of "Dil Aisa" by Amit. The other is the same song with an introduction by the ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas. This is taken from the album "Legends: Kishore Kumar - The Versatile Genius (CD 3)".

Here are these songs ...

(Vyjayanti) Nazrana (1961)

This movie which paired Vyjayanti and Raj for the first time was based on a hit Tamil film called "Kalyana Parisu" made by the first time director Sridhar who wrote many hit stories for Tamil films. Sridhar also made this movie in Telugu, which was also a huge hit, called "Pelli Kanuka" in 1960. Sridhar later made the Hindi hit films "Dil Ek Mandir" in 1963 and "Pyar Kiye Ja" in 1966.

"Nazrana" was an average success. Raj appeared to be the wrong choice for the main lead, especially during the first half of the movie. Not only that he looked old and tired. In the beginning of the film he was supposed to play a college student participating in various athletic competitions. This was kind of hard to take for discerning cine goers. Even the normally convincing Vyjayanti Mala was too dramatic in her portrayal that didn't seem to leave very little impact. The only one who appeared to be in her element was Usha Kiron with a very consummate and understated performance. Yet her name was hardly seen in the press or even mentioned in any place.

One thing that was standout for this film was music of Ravi. He came through again with some fine songs. Instead of Asha singing most of the songs for him, this time he had Lata sing most of the songs with Asha participating in one fine duet. It is difficult to single out which song is better than the other as each one of them is that good.

I will upload songs from the Telugu film immediately after posting the Hindi songs in this section following these posts.

I am uploading these songs in two back-to-back posts. The first post contains all songs from the film. The second post has few of the extended version songs.

Here are the details of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...

Pelli Kaanuka (1960) - A Telugu Film

Both this film and "Nazrana (1961)" were based on a hit Tamil film named "Kalyana Parisu". Like the Tamil version, the Telugu version also was a huge hit. A.M. Raja, who gave music for only handful of the movies, provided the music for this film. Jikki's song, "Pulakinchani Madi", is just one outstandingly endearing and sweet song ...

Here are the songs from this film ...
