(Rekha) Pran Jaye Per Vachan Na Jaye (1974)

If not for anything else, this film will be remembered as the last film in which Asha and OP worked together. It is a pity the association that gave so many unforgettable songs together have to end their relationship this abruptly. But even then the pair left with a bang ...

Asha was bestowed with numerous awards, including the Filmfare Award as the Best Singer for the song "Chain Se Hum". Interestingly in the end the song was not even included in the movie.

The album, not unusually for a typical OP's album, is all Asha. Out of seven songs she has six solos. The other is a brief snippet by Rafi Saab. Almost every song by Asha is a real beauty. I am uploading all these songs from the original soundtrack album below.

Here are the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

(Sadhana) Ulfat Ki Nayee Manzilen (1994)

Finally we are here, coming to an end of songs from Sadhana's movie albums. It was a beautiful ride, as beautiful as Sadhana herself, who stormed our lives with her adult debut movie "Love in Simla (1960)". She was in several popular movies and enjoyed great success as an actress. Unfortunately her health started failing in later years of her professional career and this did reflect in her looks in these movies. It was painstaking to see her suffer this way.

This was the last movie of Sadhana that was released. Apparently it was under production for a long time and for some reason or other its release was delayed. The year of release is still in question. But songs from this album are absolutely beautiful. Except for "Chhota Sa Sansaar", every song from this album for me is just beautiful. Both solos by Lata are lovely. The duet by Lata and Rafi Saab is very enjoyable. We get to hear a solo from Yesudas, a great song, it is a ghazal. In his engrossing voice this ghazal takes its own beauty.

Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

Small correction - Asha got the Filmfare Award, not the National Award for 'Chain Se Hum Ko kabhi"

(Saira) Aakhri Daao (1975)

It seems like only yesterday Saira was introduced to the film world in 1961 in that massive hit "Junglee". Her slim figure, her vulnerable looks, and her portrayal of innocence at once made her so likable. But time has rolled on. It is now 14 years later. 1975. The years have taken a toll on her slim looks. That vulnerability she could show off as an actress completely disappeared. The innocence that lit her face in an unusual glow in "Junglee" now seems like has been replaced with indifference to the proceedings. She almost looked disinterested in the role she was playing. I guess time plays havoc with many peoples lives if they are not careful about it ...

I am uploading all but one song from this album. All are by the courtesy of the Forum members. The missing song is listed in red italics in the table below. If indeed this is the case, and if you can share, please kindly do.

Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

The words Thank you would be insufficient and inadequate. Thank you yet, for these lovely threads and sharing your collections of songs

Earthmusic also lists one more song for Rishte Naate:
"Pyar kuch insaan ke marne se mar jaata nahin:

Would you have this song. Is it from this film?

A request to members to throw light on this / share too please

(Nutan) Rishte Naate (1965)

Here is a little big album by Madan Mohan Saab. There are only four songs in this album. All sung by Lata. And they all are very beautiful to listen to.

Here are the details of the songs and the songs themselves ...

Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter — to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water.

- Albert Schweitzer

Without music life would be a mistake
- Friedrich Nietzsche

Where words fail, music speaks
- Hans Christian Anderson

Music is spiritual. The music business is not
- Van Morrison

Thank you very much for your kind words, Bhavita. Appreciate it very much. Now for the song you're referring to I don't have it. May be someone else can come forward and help here.

(Sharmila) Daag (1973)

Yash Chopra it seems like made almost similar types of love stories over and over again; but mostly entertainingly told with some good music to go with them. Even some scenes from several of his movies look the same. Yet there is no denying the fact that he has been enormously successful doing what he does best.

I for one liked this movie immensely. Rajesh with and without that big mustache that covered half of his face (trying to hide from the law for a crime he did not commit) did a good job. Rakhee won the Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of a betrayed lover. Sharmila, as usual, was her charming self. Yash Chopra, who produced and directed the movie, grabbed a Filmfare Award as the Best Director.

Sahir Saab wrote lyrics for most of the movies of both Chopra brothers. He pens here several romantic songs. But the standout song of the album that has some beautiful lyrics and great singing to go with it by Kishoreda is the unforgettable "Mere Dil Mein Aaj Kya Hai". It has that stirringly echoing effect that agitates your heart and makes it furiously flutter fast.

This movie was remade successfully in Telugu in 1978 as "Vichitra Jeevitam". I will upload songs from this movie after I am done with the Hindi songs.

Here is a description of the songs from the original soundtrack album and the songs themselves ...

(Waheeda) Aadmi (1968)

Here is another movie based on a Tamil hit. Tamil actor Veerappa who produced this movie went nearly broke trying to make this movie. After it became a huge hit in Tamil, it was remade in Telugu as “Gudi Gantalu” in 1964 and was a modest success. This should have given a clue to Veerappa. Nevertheless, he decided to make this in Hindi and signed Dilipji to play the main lead. Dilipji was one of those actors who demanded a huge salary to act. Convinced that this movie will work in Hindi, Veerappa decided to sign Dilipji by agreeing to all of his demands.

After several years in production, mainly because of the financial difficulties of the producer, it was finally released in 1968 and proved to be a dud at the box office and was a financial disaster for its producer.

The storyline of this movie is simply abominable. Yet, it seems like we made these type of movies over and over again during this period, and most of them seem like made money for producers for them to repeatedly go back to the same subject. The subject matter is simply put very crappy and shows very little concern for human values and very little respect for women.

The final product of “Aadmi” was tasteless. Utter sham. No redeeming social value to point out. Dilip Saab plays a man who is paralyzed halfway through the movie and suffers from baseless suspicions about the relationship between his wife and a friend. The problem here is that it is not the physical handicap of Dilip’s character we should be sorry about. It is his mental handicap.

I saw this movie for Dilipji and Naushadji. Also, I just love what Waheeda Rehman can do in her roles. I guess they all are good reasons when these type of movies are made, people like myself go to watch them. In the end, however, none of these individuals didn’t have much to contribute, it seemed like. Ever so dependable Dilip Saab was simply insipid in his character. Each time he encountered some kind of a problem or dilemma, Dilip Saab, one of our most brilliant actors he is, covered his face in fingers to express his anguish. In this movie, he may have done this too many times. This must be one of his indifferent and weak performances. Similarly, Waheeda was also disappointing as she furrows her brows often times through out the proceedings. Manoj, who had a significant role in this movie, in real life idolized Dilip Kumar while he was growing up. He even changed his name to Manoj after Dilip’s character in “Shabnam” made in 1949. It was one of his lifelong ambitions to work with Dilip Saab in a film This film offered him that opportunity. In a supporting role, Manoj’s performance was passable. Naushadji’s music was a tad better compared to his last outing with "Ram Aur Shyam". But still very uninspired and in the end like the movie itself utterly forgettable.

I will upload songs from the Telugu film “Gudi Gantalu” in this thread immediately following uploading of the Hindi songs. Now for details of the songs from an original soundtrack album and the songs themselves ...
