Thank you so much, Hildebrand for uploading such rare & vintage hard to find songs!!! You are most welcome Erum ji. (My college friends would run away if they heard these songs- after doing all this to me for playing them! ) Best Regards

I am next uploading songs of the classic movie Anmol Ghadi(1946) after getting inspired by Faraaj ji's request. It is one of the classic movies of Indian Cinema. It is known to english audiences as the priceless watch. Thanks Hildebrand Ji I agree with you that this was one of Naushad's finest moments. Your quip about the english translation reminds me of the notorious film poster on Mall Road, Lahore in the 70's. The film Midnight Cowboy was known to Lahoris as Aadhi Raat Mein Gaaye Ka Bacha. The same spot is supposed to have hosted the poster for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang known to locals as Tumma Tumma Thaen Thaen! This may very well be an urban myth - I wasn't around to witness it first hand....I did witness first-hand (or rather saw) a version of the Pacino/DeNiro film Heat complete with Punjabi sub-titles....no comedy can match that experience.... By the way, I've downloaded the six lesser and unknown pieces you provided and will hear them soon. Thanks for that. I also plan to upload 3-4 aces I still have up my sleeve this weekend because I'll be logging off in about 5 days for about a month (much deserved vacation!)..... Kind Regards Faraaj Kind Regards Faraaj Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. - Victor Hugo There is only one better thing than music - live music. - Jacek Bukowski I hate music, especially when it's played. - Jimmy Durante No good opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible. - W. H. Auden |

Kind Regards Faraaj Hi Faraaj ji I fully identify with the humour of translation and I am a fan of the lahori sense of humour myself. Being a punjabi myself, I find the desi flavour of the region very amusing. I remember getting a clip of a Punjabi dubbed version of Spiderman. Names of all characters except Spiderman were changed. Jane became meena, Peter Parker became Murli. that was amusing enough. In the movie they go to visit a spider museum where he gets bitten. There an actor was explaining about the spiders in Punjabi - Ae Jedi makdi ne badi zehreeli hondi ae ...etc etc and I was rolling with laughter. Similarly in another scenes also It was incredibly funny. Youtube also has some punjabi dubbed scenes of hollywood movies. They are really hillarious! Best Regards

Hildebrand Ji I'm sure Spiderman must've had its moments in Punjabi - but nothing beats Heat. Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro in a tense face-off. Pacino says "I'm telling you brother, you are going DOWN!!!". Now imagine Pacino actually saying "Paee Jee, tussi thallay jaa ray oh..." Reminds me of a tamil dubbed broken arrow. When villain is told "Enna Pandra" I was rolling with laughter! Some hindi/telugu/tamil dubbed hollywood movies have made me laugh when I saw bits of them similarly. Translators can sometimes make a tragedy into a comedy! Kind Regards Faraaj LOL..very nice one! I remember when I was in college, there used to be a few film theaters in Bhaikhala area in Mumbai. They used to mostly run some "hot" English films dubbed in Hindi. I remember seeing the posters with their Hindi names. We used to wonder the talents of the artist who used to sum up the entire essence of the film in 3 or 4 words in the Hindi title. Don't remember all the names but yes, they were mostly funny and titillating at times. Cheers Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com
