Boney Kapoor, older brother of Anil Kapoor and future husband of Sri Devi made several movies pairing Sri Devi and Anil Kapoor together. Mr. India, which Amitabh Bachchan declined to play the lead when it was offered initially to him, gone through several rewrites by Salim-Javed team. In the original screenplay, there was no part of Amrish Puri's character. The final screenplay introduced Mogambo character that was played by Amrish Puri. By this time Amtabh's popularity was on the waning side as a bankable hero, and Boney Kapoor decided to cast Anil Kapoor opposite Sri Devi.
This movie has some good songs. My personal favorite is the duet very sensuously sung by Alisha Chinoy and Kishore Kumar "Kaate Nahin Kat Te." The movie was a massive hit when it was released. Details of Mr. India and its songs are given in the table below followed by the actual songs: Attached image(s) |

Thanks SwaraPriya,
Those songs were a nostalgic trip to my childhood days when as a 8 year old kid I watched Mr. India with glued eyes over a neighbourhood Video-TV show And then listened to these songs so many times. This paraody was one which we lilliput gangs would sing, enact & fight with role plays Amzingly what profound effects popular music has on young minds.. Our new Music Directors ought to take this seriously Regards Maverick Hyderabad India The Golden Age Of Hindi Music "Bade rangeen zamane the, taraney hi taraney the; Magar ab poochta hai dil, woh din the yaa fasaane the..."!!!!!
