Any idea how she came to sing songs for this movie? Has she sung any more? (As I type this I realise I should search HF first )

Love the songs of this movie especially these two. The movie "Chhabili" (1960), produced and directed by Shobhana Samarth, Nutan's mother, was a launch pad for her daughters Nutan and Tanuja. She was a famous actress herself whose most remembered role was that of Sita in Ramrajya after which she unfortunately got typcast into acting in mythological films. Nutan sang five songs in this film, Snehal Bhatkar must have been impressed by her voice! By the way, an earlier film, Hamari Beti(1950) also directed and produced by Shobhana Samarth, had Snehal Bhatkar as the MD. This film had Nutan playing her first adult role in Hindi films. That film too had one song by Nutan. I don't think she sang for any other film...probably was too busy dazzling the directors with her acting prowess!!!

Another interesting nugget of information I got while reading on this, the pretty Nalini Jaywant was Shobhana Samarth's cousin...

Nutan, I had read, was not allowed inside the hall to see Hamari Beti because she was still under-age.

Thanks Madhavi, appreciate the information didn't know about the Nalini Jaywant connection (but then, there's much I don't know ) I never found her that pretty, not that I have seen much of her.

Do you/ anyone else have the other songs of Chhabili? I have the HK solo - Leheron pe leher apart from these two. Would love to hear more of Nutan. Been listening to Aye mere humsafar over and over since I uploaded it

The song is a lori called, Soja soja. Its a duet by Nutan & Sushma S (Poornima), I have the song, if there any requests then I will u/l.

After listening to songs of 'Hamari Beti' & 'Chhabili' I wonder what made her discontinue singing. Maybe she wanted to concentrate on her histrionic talents. Except the Hemant's solo version of lehron se lehar..., she featured in all other songs in this film. I'll be thankful if someone could u/l those songs too (except the duet with Geeta, which I've).

I would love to hear the song from "Sajna saath nibhaana".

I once went to a live Ravindra Jain concert in the late 70s/early 80s sometime. And
Nutan had come to the concert as part of the group and sung a few songs. For some
reason that I cannot recall, the audience kept wanting somebody to sing "My heart is
beating" from "Julie". So Nutan sang that song. Nutan also sang some other songs
that I unfortunately do not remember.
All I recall was that she was very very good.I only wish somebody had recorded that
show. Would love to hear those on-stage renditions.

BTW, I have the song from "Hamaari beTi". Got it right here on HF. If anybody is
interested, I can upload it again.

Nutan was more a Ocasionally Singer.
I guess she chose to be a full time actress those days.
She and LATA ji were the best on SEEMA - Manmohana Bade Jhoothe - By the Legands Shankar Jaikishan

BEST Lyrics
BEST Movie.

But This combination was verry good therefore all Legands gave us in those days the best performance they
could and we only have to keep there tresures amongst us.

Nutan ji sung to less but whatever she did she did it verry good that's what counts.
And it still will be to less for us as collectors, But those days all were there amongst us
at high skills and less monney, Now it's the other way arround.
