Dear Mr. unni,

Sorry baba sorry ! abse ye "pyar ka Mausam" ka jikar nahin karoonga.

Lekin surprise ki baat to yeh hai ki yeh Sharart ka Gana " Ajab Hai Dastan" KK par filmaya gaya tha. Sure ?

Bahut pahle suna tha ye gana. Abhi aapki badaulat download karne ko mila hai. Bahut bahut sukriya.

It's a great that Rafi Saab sang songs for KK too. But KK ? NO, not and never.

warm regards,

Ram

This man is just amazing. The same singer who rendered a soulful "Mun mora baavra" could also sing this totally different mast folksy number --- and each time completely identifying with the mood of the song.

Music by the sitar maestro and India's best-known music ambassador, Ravi Shankar. Film: GO-DAAN.

... and how about "Nain Lad Jai Hain" from Ganga Jamuna??

When I first saw it, I couldn't believe I was watching Dilip Kumar (to me he was this great tragic hero) executing all those steps. I enjoy the sheer energy of that song everytime I hear it. so many times I am disappointed when I see the filming of a song, it sort of ruins it for me sometimes, this was one time it enhanced the song for sure! smile.gif)

Unfortunately I have just the revival version, else I'd have uploaded it here/ elsewhere.

Unni says:

Here's a rarely heard Rafi-sahab number: This one is unusual --- Rafi-sahab singing the lines of Hasrat Jaipuri for a Naushad composition from the film "MY FRIEND

Unni my friend, what can I say...you are a champ. I knew there was a song out there that was a treasure within a treasure, and I got it.

This song is just toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

good. This song can meismerise even a stone. I belive Rafisaab songs are an invaluable treasure and this song is the mother of all songs ever sung in any part of the world at any given time.

I see that there are 43 downloads so far and I believe that there are about 500 memebers here. Listen everyone do not miss to download this one.

Unni, I will be uploading some songs on the same lines soon. I have just being flat out busy. i evny you guys who can organise their time so well.

Cheers

PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM.

This is a song from my childhood, in fact an unconscious memory from childhood. Then, I did not know the name of the movie, perhaps not even the name of the singer. Let alone have any appreciation for semi-classical music.

The song, the tune, the first few lines....they remained at the back of my mind all through...till adulthood. Until a friend hummed the lines, "Mun mandir mein shyam biraajey", when I desperately wanted to hear the full song again! But this was a rare track for a long, long time. I searched for a couple of decades, and eventually came across a video-tape of the movie and with great difficulty copied the track to an audio tape. Fortunately, much later I found an issue of the audio-tape of the movie "Raagini" and this recording has been converted from that.

Had I never heard a single other song of Rafi-sahab, this song alone would have made me fida.

Even if I become unable to U/L another song in this forum, I believe this upload will compensate in ample measure as a testimony to my devotion to Rafi-sahab.

I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as it means to me.

During their joint Canada stage appearances, Mukesh-ji came on stage after Lata-ji had sung, and said, "After Lata-ji has performed, no other artiste should dare to step on that stage".

By the same token, after my last U/L, it is indeed difficult to follow up with any appropriate number ---- unless it is one by Rafi-sahab himself!

So, I can risk the "majaal" in uploading another very moving number, this one from "NAYA DAUR".

It seems unbelievable that both these songs were tuned by O. P. Nayyar, who is identified by his rythmic "peppy" tunes. But then, this is the same man who composed "Preethum aan milo".

Saw the song sequence on video. Loved the song, but I did not have the track. So, I copied it from thevideo. Got another copy from a music store in Karol Bagh. Eventually got hold of the issue of the tape.

Some ordinary songs become popular because of the success of the movie, e.g. "Hum aapke hain kaun". Other good songs do not register on the public consciousness due to the insignificant/failed movie.

This one belongs to the latter category.

Another song I hadn't heard for the longest time. Then I came across a "version" recording. Of course, I had to get the original.

Rafi-sahab with Lata-ji for the movie "SEHRA".
