Two songs, same tune, one a solo, the other a duet from 'TANGEWALI" (1955), music by Salil Chowdhury:
(Mohd. Rafi) (Mohd. Rafi & Lata Mangeshkar) If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

I had called it a day after all the uploads, until I found this gem. Then I couldn't resist sharing it!
Sharad and I had uploaded several bhajans rendered by Rafi-sahab. But IMHO this lovely song surpasses most of them. After listening earlier to the soul-stirring songs of "MERE GHARIB NAWAZ", this is a fitting close to a day of music. From the film "CHHOTA BHAI" (1966), music by L-P: If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

I wonder if anyone will share my excitement at discovering that I had accidently acquired this memorable track. It is nostalgia at its best, from 1954, featuring Rafi-sahab and Asha-ji in a tune that was so popular that it was copied in other languages too. From the film "ALIBABA & THE FORTY THIEVES", music by S. N. Tripathi and Chitragupta.
The recorded copy was atrocious in sound quality. I have tried my best to improve it as much as I could, but don't even think of burning it on CD. Remember, this one is purely for the sake of nostalgia. If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

The first two are duets by Rafi-sahab and Asha-ji from the movie "PICNIC", music by S. Mohinder:
ripped from VCD ripped from VCD The next one features Rafi-sahab in "ALIBABA & THE 40 THIEVES", music by S. N. Tripathi and Chitragupta: from audio-tape This last solo by Rafi-sahab is from "SACHCHAI", music by Shankar-Jaikishen. The tune is vaguely similar to SJ's composition for Mukesh in the title song of "Gunahon ka Devta": from CD If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

I believe I've benefitted from HF far more than I've contributed. For example, this moving song which I heard for the first time, although an old song, thanks to an upload by one of our members. And ever since, I had been trying to obtain a clean recording, which I finally have, in the form of a CD.
About 20 years ago, Lata Mangeshkar gave a charity show at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. I had a copy of that performance, in which Raj Kapoor had introduced a song with a quotation from a different song. At the time I heard it first, I had no idea about the source of that quotation. I am attaching a copy of Raj Kapoor's words as well as the CD rip of the song: (spoken words) (Mohd. Rafi & Asha Bhosle & chorus / Film: "BOOT POLISH" / Music: Dattaram) If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Two tracks from "KAISE KAHOON", with music by S. D. Burman:
(Mohd. Rafi & Asha Bhosle) (Mohd. Rafi / Suman Kalyanpur / S. D. Batish) If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.
