Persian, Hindi, Urdu aur Punjabi mein programmes pesh kiye. Par maine
kabhi sangeet ki koi taalim naheen lee. 1939 mein main Lahore aur
Peshwar mein radio programmes karne lagi.

Pancholiji ne pehli baar mujhe playback ka mauka diya film Yamla Jat
mein, jismein mera geet "Aa sajna" kaafi hit huya tha. Meri pehli
Hindi film thee Mehboob sahab ki Taqdeer jo Nargis ki bhi pehli film
thee.

Phir uske baad Pune ki ek film company ne Panna ke geet gawaaye. Is
tarah se ek ke baad ek offer aate gaye aur main Bambai mein bas gayi.

Mere pasand ke fankaar hain Barkat Ali Khan, Begum Akhtar, Juthika
Roy aur K L Saigal, jo mere inspirations the.

I could find only Lata-ji's voice and Chorus but no Shamshad Begum in this song and the soundtrack also does not include her name in the credits.

in naming her first playback. Her first playback was in
'sassi punnun' 1937/8, a film made in Calcutta. SP's
heroine was Iqbal Begum urf 'baalo', mother of Pakistani
star Sabiha Begum. She (IB) was a good singer according
to the standards of late 30s. HMV issued her records. I
remember her two songs: akhiyo nii badnaam na karnaa and
kithe gayo.n pardesiyaa ve. But in the movie Shamshad
Begum sang for her. The song was: punnu.n diye moorate ni

suee ve chiree valaya is very popular even today and people of our generation have listened to Surinder kaur's version only

I will ul suee ve chiree by Munawwar Sultana one of these days.
My info is that Shamshad's studio recordings have not been kept by RP Lhr.
'gaadi waale dupattaa uDaa haye' form Poonji: some say it is in the voices
of Sha and Zeenat but I think it was UZB and not Zeenat. Have not heard the
song for nearly half a century.
And finally here is a clip of Shamshad's song from Sassi Punnun/1937-8.

My info is that Shamshad's studio recordings have not been kept by RP Lhr.
