Hello Everyone,
Geeta Dutt sang 2 songs for Pakistani Film Miss 56 (1956, M/D :- G.A. Chishti)

Ek baat sunati houn
Mohabbat karle kisi pai marlai

She became the second Indian singer to sing for post-independence Pakistani films (after S.D. Batish) followed by Hemant Kumar, Talat Mahmood, Asha Bhosle etc. The film was directed by Roop.K..Shorey and the heroine was Meena Shorey (both came from india to work in this film). If someone has these songs, please upload.

Ummer Sahab These Pictures are really rare ...Very Hard to find these Songs or even trace of the movie ... I heard from someone that somebody in Rawalpindi is having these songs He is a painter a great fan of geeta Ji.

It Just seems that we Indians (by that I mean people from South Asia) have done a horrible job in preserving our films!! In fact in Indianscreen.com I read that almost 5000 films were melted down to make lady's purse, films dating pre 1956!!!!????? How callous!!!

yeah thats really sad : cry.gif They dont have the prints of some of the milestone films in indo-pak film history. Like Badi Maa (1945) in which Noor Jehan, Asha Bhosle-Lata Mangeshkar acted together. But, I think the print of Miss 56 may survive somewhere bcoz it was a hit film of its time. I still havent given up my hope smile1.gif

Thanks for such a rare fete. It was nice to learn that Geeta has rendered 2 songs for a Pakistani film Miss56. Please let me which were the songs sung by Asha, Talat and Hemant Da for Pakistani films. In none of indian books on these singers have furnished such information.

Hello Bgarg,
Asha sang 13 songs for Pakistani films Badaltey Mausam (1999) and Sargam (1991), they are easily available and were later released in India too.

Talat Mahmood sang 3 songs for Pakistani films Chiragh Jalta Raha (2 solos were uploaded on Indianscreen.com, music director was Nihal Abdullah) and 1 solo for unreleased film Ghanghour Ghata (which is very hard to get hold of).

Hemant Kumar sang for hit Pakistani film Humsafar (1960) "Raat suhani hai" (M/D :- Muslehuddin). He sang atleast 1 more song (not sure about the total number of songs he sang for Pak films). This song was uploaded by Inaam Nadeem in the Lollywood section.

S.D. Batish sang and composed for some Pakistani films including Eid (1950) because he was in Lahore at that time, and these films were released after partition.

If you wanna include pre-independence films made in Lahore then Rafi sang for punjabi film Gul Baloch (1945), Rafi's first ever song. Gul Baloch was also the debut film of Pakistan first Comedian NAZAR.

And Shamshad Begum sang for atleast 50 films made in lahore, before moving on to Bombay.

There were many other singers too who sang for-pre-indepence films made in Lahore. They later moved on to Bombay or decided to stay back in Lahore.

Geeta had recorded these songs and, iirc, a 78rpm disk had
also been issued.
But before the movie was released the producers changed
their mind and had these songs sung by Munawwar Sultana/
Zubeda Begum. Geeta's renditions were not even aired.

i think a similar thing happened with zahar-e-ishq.khurshid anvar for whom geeta sang in his last two indian films[nishana[50] and neelampari[52]];liked geeta's voice a lot and wanted her to sing for zahar-e-ishq.geeta had agreed and was to record when the press in pakistan criticised the proposal and the idea was dropped.
