I heard that few of the first songs of Lata were from the film Sona Chandi or Chandi Sona (1947).The source also informed me that though the credit has gone to the song from Aap ki Sewa Mein, probably the ones mentioned were the initiation.Does anyone have the songs?
The source I got is quite an expert in Lata matters.

He also told me that there were 6 Lata songs including I guess 2 duets in the play Bhagwan Buddha (1948).Any clues/links/songs?

There *was* a 1946 film called "Sona Chandi", but I am don't know if it had any Lata songs. However, there are at least two other 1946 films with Lata songs: "Jeevanyatra" and "Subhadra", both with music by Vasant Desai. My guess, though, is that the "Aap Ki Sewa Mein" songs were recorded before these but the movie was released later, because Lata sounds more child-like in the latter songs than she does in her other songs from 1947-48 (IMO, of course).

Also, if you are talking about "first songs of Lata" overall rather than her first *playback* songs, you have to go back to 1942. It is her playback singing that started in 1946.

Warm regards,
Abhay

Sona Chandi (1946) had only one Lata song. It was composed by D. C Dutt. Most of the other songs of the film were composed by Tufail Farouqui. The song in question is Pyar Bapu Ke Charnon Ki Le Lo Qasam.

In the ballet Bhagwan Buddha, there were 6 Lata songs.
