Starting thread on punjabi songs from my side. will try to post some different songs of different artists. and will learn from u abt these artists


Kala sha kala by Anamika was a huge hit. but this song was sung by many people before. and the first such known song was by Jasbir kaur.

Harbhajan mann's first hit song



Here is one important song for Harbhajan mann

Harbhajan mann 's " oye hoye" album brought him in limelight at national level. The song was a huge hit at national level. ( it featured MTV VJ maria ).

But his actual first hit song came in 1992 from his second album " chitiye ne chitiye". Harbhajan released tht album in Canada( whre he lived) and my cousin told me tht it was a big hit in punjab.( and even now)

This song has some very nice lyrics...... and is v fav of mine. lyrics reflects life of families who send their son abroad by borrowing money etc.

lyrics kaafi actual scene reflect karde ne.........punjab de. pardesi poot..........te rowaan maawan !

One of my frd liked this song a lot. but wat shocked me wat tht she was born in america and didnt had lot of relatives in punjab. but still she liked the lyrics immensly !

Here is one important song for Harbhajan mann

Yes, but that Hadiqa Kiani song 'Boohey Barian' and Hansraj Hans 'Panj Bariyan' were released at the same time. On Hansraj's album it says the lyrics of the song was writen by 'Bhushan Kumar', whereas in Hadiqa Kiani's album it says the lyrics were writen by 'Khawar', a famous lyricist of punjab, who has produced lyrics for artists like Akram Rahi. So im taking a wild guess that Hadiqa Kiani's was the original one.

Actually Hadiqa's album Roshni came out in 1999 and I think Hans Raj Hans' in 1996, but don't quote me on that, lol - I've read it both ways, Hans copied Hadiqa and vice versa, I'm unsure which way around it was, not that it's impt to me cause I love them both. I had gotten to know the Hadiqa song first and then Hans took it up a notch; from Boohey Baarian Thay Naale Kandha Tapke, Aavangi Hawa Ban Ke to his Panj Baarian, Pachasi Boohey Tapke. This song was also copied in Hindi OSTs:
Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam title song from 2002
Dil Laga Liya Maine from Dil Hai Tumhaara 2002

Yes Deewni you are right. Hansraj album came in 1996. and tht of Hadiqa in 1999-2000

No way HRH could have copied it ( BTY can any one tell me the MD of HRH album??)

Hadiqa song ke lyrics halke hain HRH waale ke muqaable.

For me HRH song will alwyas going to remain special. it was this song which started my real interest in whole Punabi music.( folk etc ). else earlier I was limited to pop songs only. and this is my No1 punjabi song!
