No...this is not necessarily about rare songs...may be just obliquely...this thread is about reviving those wonderful melodies of Guru which have got lost into oblivion with passage of time....

...they were big draws at their time and then faded away in time..as if saying Pukaro Mujhe Phir Pukaro....

...or may be they were unworthy casualties because the movies that they figured in just flopped at the box office....oh dear dear Maine Kuchh Khoya Hai....

....or just that they never got their due..they failed on the charts for reasons cryptic as ever.....Jeena To Hai Par Aye Dil Kahan...

as a diehard fan of Kishore The Great...my attempt is to rediscover these gems....and all are welcome to join me in doing so...

I start this thread with scratching the dust over my memory with this apt song...

Yep I like this song too Eskayes! Featured on Gopi Krishna (the Kathak dancer) and Helen look alike. Salilda music is so lilting!

Man kare woh yaad din has a special charm altogether. Another of my favs(music by Bappida)are Nanha sa panchi re tu bahut bada pinjara tera(toote khilaune) and Ye naina ye kajal.. (from dil se mile dil) are also not so commonly heard nos. Btw Rajesh Roshan used the same tune of ye naina ye kajal.. (in do aur do panch )

According to KCP,
the song chorus KK sang was in
ChalChalReNaujawan (Bandhan 1940)

Info collected from HF and interview of KK on SDB provides the following info

He sang
Bankaa Sipahiya Ghar Jaaye Ho
[Eighty Days (1946)]

In the same year he also sang
RangeelaRangeelaRe [Shikari 1946]

Then in
MeriJaanMeriJaanSundayKeSunday [Shehnai 1947]

and then finally the full song of Ziddi (1948)
Marne Ki Duan Kyon Mangu...., considered to be the first song of KK.

He sang two Private albums for HMV in 1945.

"Marne Ki Duan Kyon Mangu" is considered to be the first song, because it is the first full length film song KK sang.

The previous songs he sang is either chorus, or a line like Banka Sipahi.., or a para like Rangeela Rangeela, or few words like Meri Jaan Sunday Ke Sunday, etc.

The two private albums of 1945 are

So request all guru bhakths NOT TO JUMP THE GUN and hold their enthusiasm.

I have two suggestions here....

Nimii and SKS kindly note..

1.We need to suitably mark this thread with one more line."songs from the 50's" or something to that effect so that it gets proper attention..

2.We have not numberedthe songs properly starting from the beginning.Rectifying lateron is a problem.better do it now..

We should definitely continue and complete this thread and then move over to the sweet sixtees...

My views as follows:

1,Thank you for your words of appreciation.I (and SKS too) will do whatever is possible in the service of GURU>

2.The numbering N has done does not include RKI's additions.So my suggestion was to renumber it so we don not lose any Numbers(!)

3. The tagline suggested is fine by me.I suppose Nimii can go ahead and do the changes..

4. the entries must all fall on a single sheet in a running sequence( like your long list of farmaish and whatever uploaded can be stuck off..leaving behind the ones not uploaded.

5.Yes this thread we will stop at 59 and then we will start a new one on the sweet sixtees..

I think eskayes, it is better to keep the list of Songs given by Nimii and any pending song list in first post of the thread and you may duplicate them as and when needed in subsequent posts if needed.

And is it correct to renumber the sequence order mentioned by Nimii?

I think Nimii is taking numbers from VN's book, whose order should not be changed.
It is just my idea and you all decide which is the appropriate approach.

That is ok RKI. We can add these, as they are not found in the book. What we are doing is compiling our own data (referring all chronicles we could lay our hands on - ofc giving the due credits to all the books we are referring). My data is a mixture of VNji's and another database, which I had earlier used, well before the book was even released.

VNji's book and Kamal Dhimaan's book both have more or less the same data - tho' I find it easier to refer the book in english. Kamal Dhimaan's book, an earlier release has an excellent reference to the records data and 400 odd lyrics have been included too. Not many ppl are aware of this book I only wish, for ppl like me it was in english

Also, isn't Ghar Ke Maalik from Muqqadar 1950???..i have a duet song from Pyar 1950 which goes like O Bewafa Ye To Bata...now Ghar Ke Maalik doesn't come anywhere in this song...may be someone could clarify...

Parag, i saw the Geeta Dutt thread...wow...we are heading for some interesting discovery here looks like...because Nimii did put this song as a part of Pyar...but VN's and Kamal Dhiman's dont include this song in Pyar as now modified by Nimii....lets wait and watch....if someone has more insight into this whole thing...

Thanks GuruFan for Andolan song....there are certain free to use softwares which you could use to scale down the biterate....here i must caution you that you could do that for the purpose of uploading here (understandably there has to be limit on bite rate on the forum from the point of view of space on server) but you need not change the biterate in your copy....remember that scaling down could do some quality loss which can not be recovered even if u scale it up later....

I have some confusion here..

1.I have a song called "kismat ki khel..jeevan ki rail..tagged as Chamchamacham..which is not listed here??
2.My database also has alisting"Too hai chanda to main hoon" under this film.

can some one resolve these two points pl..

Now this Kismat Ke Khel is keeping the curiosity high..both GF and RKI have mentioned it as part of Chham Chhama Chham, but this one is not listed under this movie by both VN and KD...they both have mentioned only the seven songs posted by Nimii....may be we will have to wait till someone lifts the curatin over...Naina Mila Ke Zara uploaded by RKI, is the same one as Bandalpur Se Munshee...

Thanks luvguru..you liked the thread...yes Har koi chahata hai is a lovely song..there are six stanzas to the song...all sung at different times and in different notes and pace....though the EPs have just one stanza song...

In the meantime..here is another wonderful solo by Guru from Rootha Na Karo..title song...this one just never made it to top..though i really like this one for its non conventional notes in the mukhra...

great stuff....i have some of them which i will upload in the night if no one has done so...dont want to deny someone an opportunity to improve ones ratio.....

Another thing Nimii ji...mujhe aapki listing ko number karne wali baat abhi bhi samajh nahin aayi...umar ke saath deemaag dheere ho jata hai...aisa suna hia...you see songs are all sequentially numbered as you post them..and whichever one get uploaded, i strike that off without affecting the original numbering in anyway since any re-numbering could create confusion...i am not clear as to which is the other numbering you are talking about...

Regarding numbering the list, I was pointing to the list where you have compiled all that has been listed and the ones that have been struck out - i.e. the uploaded nos. The list has no numbers against the songs.. eg.

The song Aye Babu O Babu goes like this…Chhoti Badi Suiyaan Jaali Ka Mora Kadhna…Aye Babu O Babu Na Karoon Main Teri Naukri…..now this song has only yodelling by KK…cm2, I request you to please upload this for us…
