Serene Sounds features blissful musical tracks by renowned musicians. Materfully interpreting the sanctuary of serenity, these pieces of instrumental music emnate from a divine source of committed musicians.

1. Journey (Santoor) - Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya

Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya - Universally acclaimed as one of the most versatile Santoor Maestros on the Indian Classical Music firmament today, he has to his credits innumerable performances worldwide. His initial training was under his father Pandit Robi Bhattacharya and thereafter with Pandit Dulal Roy of Kolkatta. Pandit Ravi SHankar's influence on his baaj style is one of the strongest points of his performances, along with the application of 'mankas' or fine tuners, which facilitate the tuning of this complex instrument. Besides this is his unique capacity to produce meends or modulated notes in an instrument which was hitherto incapable of producing such an effect


2. Tryst (Flute) - Shri Rakesh Chaurasia and Shri Talvin Singh

The nephew and child prodigy of Flute maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Rakeshji shows all the promise to carry the Chaurasia Legacy. Possessing the right balance of strength and serenity, he has already globe trotted many times over, enthralling audiences at concerts. Featurng in this album is a one to one recital with Shri Talvin Singh where there were no rehearsals. What results is a beautiful flow of melody insterspersed with breathtaking rhythm

Talvin Singh, an east-ender and the King of Asian Underground music. ANd then a completely new avatar; a classical tabla player. A student and a keen observer of Indian Classical Music, Talvin Singh has long sought to find a texture of sound, while while remaining true to the classical tradition also reflects the latest in sound techniques. He does just this with this track, with Rakesh Chaurasia which transcends the boundaries of Indian Classical and yet following all the rules

3. Twilight (Sitar) - Niladri Kumar and Bikram Ghosh
Born into a distunguished family of Sitar Players, NIladri Kumar learnt the intricacies of this stringed instrument from his father, the Sitar Maestro Pandit Kartick Kumar. Today Niladri Kumar is considered one of the foremost emerging Sitar players in India

Bikram Ghosh - An exceptionally talented percussionist, Bikram Ghosh received his training from his father Shri Shankar Ghosh and the great maestro Shri Gyan Prakash Ghosh, He has accompanied leading artistes including Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, V G Jog and the late Munawwar Ali Khan in their performances.

4. Mountain Melody - (Keyboard) - Abhijit Pohankar

Born in 1975, Abhijit Pohankar is the son of the well known classical vocalist Pandit Ajay Pohankar. Given his birth into a musical family he been exposed to the rigours of Hindustani Classical tradition from a very early age

He is the 'only' keybpard player on the concert circuit, the sound of which is akin to a mixture of the Santoor and the Piano - indeed a very distinct and unique sound to experience! In this he has been fortunate enough to learn from his Guru Pandit Shivkumar Sharma

5. Homecoming (Santoor) - Pandit Satish Vyas

One of India's noted Santoor players, Pandit Satish Vyas was born into a family noted for its contribution to Indian Music. His father Pandit C R Vyas, one of India's recognised vocalists, initiated him into vocal music. In I976, Satish Vyas was exposed to the magic of the Santoor and to Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. He sought the maestro's tutelage and for the past twenty two years he has dedicated himself to his Guru and to the Santoor. He is among the senior most and well-known disciples of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.

6. Ripples (Flute and Sitar) Craig Pruess and B.K.Baral

Craig Pruess, an American composer, musician, arranger, producer and "sound designer" is known for as the music director of acclaimed films such as Bhaji on the Beach, WHat's Cooking, and is also the creator of albums such as Sacred Chants of Shiva and Sacred Chants of Buddha.

7. Mood Magic (Violin) Violin Brothers. A very haunting melody...

Kolkatta basedDeb and Jyoti Shankar Roy, better known as the Violin Brothers were born into a family that is deep into classical music. They started learning the Violin at the age of Nine and studied under Shri Mihir Gupta and passed the prestigious Licentiate of Trinity College of Music (London) under the tutelage of Sam Engineer. They have been performing in classical as well as film music for the past 18 years. They have accompanied maestros such as Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Vilayat Khan and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan

8. Whispers (Piano) Sandhan Westphal

Sandhan Westphall, a German pianist renders mellifluous melodies, resplendent with an Indian flavour. This track is a result of his many years of musical adventure and experience in India. The track featured in this album is soulful, immensly expressive and emotional
