I am making a thread to upload Bengali songs of my choice. Me Being a non-bengali request all to excuse any mistakes made in the uploads from time to time.

Uploading what is probably Geeta ji's last recording in Bengali. In Bengali, geeta last recorded on the occasion of Durga Puja in 1971 in album Ei to holo porichoi. Music for both songs by Swapan-Jagmohan.
They were:-
1) O Bondhu Shono and
2) Anjan Diyechhi Chokhey.
Probably done after the Anubhav songs according to the friend who gave the above information.

I am looking for the first song. If its available with somebody do please upload it.

Next posting a song from Badhubaran(1967). This was the movie in which Geeta ji acted in as well. Request anyone having other songs of the movie to upload. (I don't know if Geeta ji actually sang a song in the movie. Perhaps knowledgeable members can throw more light on that).

Incidentally, Its also the last composed Song of the great composer Kamala Dasgupta who moved to Bangladesh after the movie with his singer wife Feroza Begum.

Really liked the song for its music and singing. Asked a friend to translate. This is what he came up with:-

Next uploading my favourite Rabindra Tagore as well as bengali song. I don't know for sure who has sung this version but I simply love the song. It is Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ashe (often shortened as Ekla Chalo Re). It exhorts the listener to continue his or her journey, despite abandonment or lack of support from others. The song is often quoted in the context of political or social change movements; Mahatma Gandhi cited it as one his favorite songs.

Here are its bengali lyrics:-
যদি তোর ডাক শুনে কেউ না আসে তবে একলা চলো রে।
একলা চলো, একলা চলো, একলা চলো, একলা চলো রে॥

যদি কেউ কথা না কয়, ওরে ওরে ও অভাগা,

Tagore himself translated it as follows:-
If they answer not to thy call walk alone,
If they are afraid and cower mutely facing the wall,

trample the thorns under thy tread,
and along the blood-lined track travel alone.

If they do not hold up the light when the night is troubled with storm,

with the thunder flame of pain ignite thy own heart
and let it burn alone.

The song is supposed to be very famous and why not, its a very inspiring one. Acharya Vinoba Bhave used it a lot during his work.

The lyricist was Shyamal Gupta, the husband of Sandhya Mukherjee.

I am not aware of the other songs from the film "Badhubaran", but according to Bengali Film Directory, the other playback singers were Geeta Dutt, Shyamal Mitra, Arun Dutta, Firoza Begum, Arati Mukherjee.

Hope other members shall be able to upload other Badhubaran songs for us. I am really curious to hear other songs of the movie considering its historic significance as last movie of Kamala Dasgupta in India and acting debut of Geeta Dutt + Rakhi!
