Among my collection of 78 RPM records, there is one which has instrumental music of two songs of My Sister, Aye Qatib-e-Tqadir and Chhupo Na Chhupo Na. The Record has the legendary New Theatres logo of two elephants and the label suggests that the music recorded is by New Theatres Orchestra.

For the connoissures of the music of the bygone era, here are the two songs, straight from the heavens. The sort of music, one would want to hear for one last time when the time comes to say good bye to this materialistic world.

Hi,

I have joined this forum recently and find it very interesting and useful to read some of the threads. If possible, could someone please upload this wonderful Instrumental music of songs from "My Sister"? I would be very grateful during this anniversary month of the legendary Pankaj Mullick.

Thank you so very much in advance!

A very grateful

Hi,

Thank you so much for uploading these items so promptly! They are beautiful. I thank you especially for adding the bonus track of My Sister in Pankaj Mullick's voice. Do you know if the New theatre orchestra was still conducted by Pankaj Mullick in 1944? I know he conducted it in 1930's. I would greatly appreciate any information on this aspect. Also, are these the only two recordings of New Theatre orchestra or some more were released on record labels?

Again, many many thanks. The music is indeed straight from the Heavens!

MKH

Hi R&D and Pradeepji,

Many thanks for the prompt replies and beautiful uploads. I did look into the Pankaj Mullick website but couldn't find the information regarding these pieces. Anyway, I think it is likely Pankaj Mullick was coordinating the orchestra as he was the MD as well and sang songs in hisvoice before getting Saigal to record the same for "My Sister".

Thank you very much.
