The Valley Recalls - a sequel to The Call of the Valley. Three decades after Call of the Valley, Pandit Hariprasad Churasia and Pandit Shikumar Sharma reunite on stage at the Nehru Concert Centre, Mumbai in December 1995, creating the thematic Peace, Love & Harmony and Raag Bhopali.
The Valley Recalls shifts its earlier Kashmiri setting from the specific to the universal. And yet it preserves the quintessential ingredient of Indian Classical Music Pt. Shivkumar Sharma explains : " In the last 30 years a lot has changed in the world. Everything has come much closer. It is like a gloabl village, as we call it. The world has come so much closers and our universal message is of peace, love and harmony. These are the three essential requirements of the present day world. SOme parts of the world are very advanced in certain achievements. Others are trying to achieve that. Some are lagging behind. Others are very far ahead. But they share one thing in common. That is, inspite of all this advancement, inspite of all the technological, scientific and other developments, we are still lacking in one field. That is, we are not at peace with ourselves and with one another. To achieve that, I strongly believe Music can do a lot, because music breaks down barriers. It does not create barriers. Other achievements create barriers. But music is one gift of God that breaks down barriers. Being musicians we are ommitted to doing our bit to share with humanity our ideas and feelings through music. That is the message of this recording. "Humanity has common feelings of love and peace. There is no caste or creed or religion where it is said that peace is not required, that love is not required or harmony is not required. I feel that this coming together of two different musicians is a message - that if we take a step forward in tis direction we can achieve these goals" Here are the compositions : http://www.4shared.com/dir/35583784/e43215..._Pt_S_K_Sh.html Volume 1 1.
