Hi Manono

There is one more lovely song of Geeta ji in the film Bahar (1951), again filmed on Padmini. The song is "Bhagwan do ghadi zara insaan ban ke dekh".

A kind request to share this one on your channel when time permits.

Many thanks in advance

Best Regards
Parag

Miya mera bada beimaan (with S Balbir)

posted here

Hello,
That's the second one of mine you've found and posted here in the last week or so. I'm honored. I should be able to post some other ones you haven't seen before also, before too long. I called it Miyaan Meri Biwi Meri and I got the name from here:

http://www.earthmusic.net/hindi-film-songs.php?movie=Ek+Saal

The DVD used a variation of the name you gave. Is yours correct? Is Earth Music correct? Are both names correct? I encounter this problem quite a bit while trying to track down the "real" name of a song and I like to try and get the names correct whenever possible.

Manono ji

Kind request to upload videos of the following songs of Geeta ji from the film Anand Math (1952)

Jai jagdeesh hare (with Hemant Kumar sahab)
Kaise rokoge aise toofan ko (with Talat sahab)
Aa re bhanware aa
Nainon mein sawan

Thanks in advance

Best Regards
Parag

I'm not a "ji". smile1.gif Tom is what they call me in real life. I don't have that film and can't get it. As near as I can determine, it's never been released on DVD and only a VCD is available in India (or for those ordering from India) from Moser Baer:

http://www.induna.com/1000003654-productdetails/

Perhaps one of the India-based members can help. If someone were to send me the VCD or the songs from the VCD, then of course I could convert it to a format suitable for upload to YouTube.

I don't understand. It's available to all here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxVUg0GGuQ0

So that's Padmini, eh? When getting ready to watch the film for the first time I did some research on it and read that this was the first Hindi film for both Vyjayanthimala and Padmini. I watched the film and saw no sign of the Padmini (the Travencore sister). I decided she must have been so young as to be unrecognizable. It was only later that I learned this was a different Padmini. And now I know what she looks like. Thanks. I changed the name in the video description from "Don't know" to "Padmini".

Hi Tom

I think my post was before you posted this video, or may be I missed out on that video. Anyways, thanks a lot for these videos in excellent quailty.

Yes, this was Padmini's debut film and Geeta ji sang the 2 songs filmed on her. Shamshad ji sang all the songs for the main heroine Vyjayantimala.

Thanks once again!
Cheers

Yes, I realized that later. I think it was probably being made available at YouTube about the time you made that post. Since I don't get those videos from elsewhere as many do, but create them all myself, they take time to make and upload.

As you may not know, as a new member all my posts have to be approved before being posted, and there's sometimes a considerable delay. I would have edited my post but couldn't at that time.

Also, a friend who has done quite a bit of research on the real Padmini has told me that woman's real name is Pandari Bai and I'll probably change it again in the video description.

Edit: This post appeared immediately so I guess my probation is over. Thanks Mr. Admin!

Yes, I am of course aware that new members do go through a period of moderation. I have been here for close to 3 years now and enjoying every moment of it.

I am glad that you are out of moderation.

Tom

This actress is Padmini, but not the one who starred in Raj Kapoor's Jis desh mein ganga behti hain.

Even IMDB wrongly credits Bahar to that Padmini (one of the famous "Travancore sisters).

Thanks and Regards

This song has an extra stanza in the film version. The audio extracted in mp3 at 64 KBPS is posted here

http://www.sendspace.com/file/xmt2yp

Enjoy

The extra stanza is as follows:

Pyar mein yunhi hansate rehna
yunhi ladate jaana
lekin apne apne dil mein
mail kabhi naa laana
Oh dilwalon do di karlo
ulfat ka deedar..

Who sings the starting part of 'badal rahi zameen' from Fashionable Wife (1959)? Is it Geeta Dutt or some one else?
