Mahesh, its my utmost pleasure if I can do any little thing for making Geeta Dutt forum more popular. As you have rightly mentioned, we do not have much of her filmographies. Some attempts have been done earlier but not all have so much of authentic and research based information like you. This is the precise thing I mentioned in my polite message to the Admin.

In recent times, I have created a few threads on her work with a specific composer. 2 reasons behind that approach :
1) Easier to search threads by composer name if any one wants to know how many songs Geeta ji sang for say Roshan ji
2) Letting all of us know that she has worked for so many composers ..

At a later point in time, we (all as a collective effort) can try to complete Geeta ji's yearwise filmography which you have alredy started. That will be an almost complete database of her songs.

I guess you are right. Uma Devi's major songs are with Naushad sahab and as we know he did not give any songs to Geeta ji that time except that small song in Dillagi. Uma Devi was the major singer singing some 7 songs for the film Chandralekha, but as we know Geeta ji only sang the song "Naache ghoda naache ghoda kimmat iski chaar hazaar" for that film. She sang it with some unknown male voice.

So effectively, it seems that Uma Devi and Geeta ji never sang a song together. And by the time Uma Devi was a regular feature in Geeta ji's husband Guru Dutt's films, she had probably stopped singing.

In late sixties, as our friend Jaishree ji has mentioned, both Uma Devi and Geeta ji were staying in the same apartment complex.

This says that the "artiste" or MD for passing Show is Manohar, which is the same as Doctor Z, Chingari etc. I think HFGK also credits it to Manohar. Exon's source say Manohar Lal Khanna. Now, the question still remains - is Manohar, the MD, same as M L Khanna?

I would now say they are different people, because I find it strange that not even a single song in all the films composed by "Manohar" is written by M L Khanna who was essentially a lyricist.

How I wish someone here knew Usha Khanna and could simply pick up the phone and ask her

One more singer (though not a famous name) has sung a few songs with Geeta ji. His name is Badrinath Vyas (not sure if he is related to the composer Avinash Vyas ji). Based on the information known so far, he has sung at least 3 duets with Geeta ji all under the baton of composer Avinash Vyas ji.

namaskar...i hv gone thru the geeta dutt link...i didn't find any place there to write so am writing here...geeta sang total 130 duets with rafi n not 155 as mentioned in the write up...it's true that out of these duets maximum were for chitragupt but total no. of these duets is 23 n not 30. pl amend accordingly...i can mail u the scanned pages from rafi's filmography if required...thnx.

I have told him that our list is authentic and verified. He is going to check the same further.

i personally feel they must have sung few more;and feel in a couple of years me might be able to increase the list to 175 ;as we discover more song especially from the period 46 to 50.

How can every one have their "own list" of songs of Rafi sahab and Geeta ji? We have never claimed it is a total or 100% complete list. Music lovers should come together and help each other in compiling such rare information.

I also have been listening for over 25 years to Geeta ji too. I still remember that casette which used to be on all the time in my house.

even i don't understand people making big claims and than not providing any evidence.there is no point in having secret lists which are confined to single persons.

brother sorry for that , have may song but not give or u/l .this song get from Geeta dutt ji dauhtar , she told me not give to any were, very rare some song 1942 to 45 hindi, bangali, panjabi, non , film. 1944-45 two movie sing in gurup. .
