One more Query:

What is the exact word and how to pronounce it

Is it Garri baan or Ga rre baan??? for eg: " Garrebaan fadna"

Sonu

It is one word 'gaadibaan' meaning gaadi chalaanewaalaa.
For pronunciation, hum this line by Kabir:
chalti ko gaadi kahen dekh kabira royaa
Pl note that dil, dhol and gaadi use different syllables.
In one transliteration scheme they are written as
dil , Dhol and gaa.Di to distiguish between the syllables.
Hope this helps.

Its pronounced as girebaan and not garrebaan or gareebaan.

Read this nazm by Ghalib:

muddat huee hai yaar ko mehmaaN kiye hue
josh-e-qadah se bazm chiraaGHaaN kiye hue

karta hooN jama'a fir jigar-e-laKHt-laKHt ko
arsa hua hai daawat-e-mizhgaaN kiye hue

fir waz'a-e-'ehtiyaat se rukane laga hai dam
barsoN hue haiN chaak girebaaN kiye hue

[ waz'a = conduct/behaviour, 'ehtiyaat = care, chaak = torn, girebaaN = collar ]

Well sonu, the singer pronounces the word as "gareebaan" but everyone knows how words are played with while composing music. Several variations in pronunciations come up with time. For example, the word "agar" is pronounced in various songs as "gar". IMO the correct pronunciation is "girebaan". Still, I'm open to corrections. Why don't we contact Inaam over this issue?

Mujhaid bhai Even I too feel it shd be Girrebaan. as you have written. and even agree with you tht sometimes words are changed drastically. when I had heard this song I felt tht word looks unsual then the one used in dailogue etc.

I listened to it and agree that it's the same word we are all talking about. As mujahid said pronunciation changes sometimes to accompany the music, and sometimes people just pronounce things different, the slightest change in one syllable makes a huge difference. I don't see any problem with the pronunciation, it's not that far off. But that's what linguistics is all about. Different pronunciations regionally, etc. Words changing over time....

The word is 'Giirebaan'. [phrase-Pehle Apne Giirebaan Main Jhanko]

Shakil Badayauni Sahab -

Kar Diya Chaalk Giirebaan,
Kabhi Daman Ko Siya
Dil Diya Dard Liya.

USR

Dil Shaad Tha Ke Phool Khilenge Bahaar Mein
Maaraa Gaya Garib Isee Aitbaar Mein
