I had the pleasure of having met him as a child, he was staying in the same building, Lily Court as my mausi and mausaji behind the Ritz hotel in churchgate bombay.

He was living as a Paying Guest with the "Master" family on the ground floor of the building.
One very strong reason why he never made it to the top was his complete refusal to blend his music with western style. I don't even remember his face now, but I must have met him approximately 30 years ago.

I felt his highlight was Mujhe Jeene Do. My favorite one was "Maang mein bharle rang sakhiri" and "Raat bhi hai kuchh bheegi bheegi"

Do you have Jaidev's compositions for Ramanad Sagar? He did the opening credits, as well as the music for the first episode or two.
