Prem Nagar 1974

The evergreen songs of PremNagar belongs to the league of the albums that SD Burman composed in the 1970-75 that has some of the ever lasting songs. Just like the other albums of this era, every single composition of Prem Nagar stands out on its one.

That the movie never lived up to its exquisite music was a sad end to these songs. A hit movie could give longetivity to the sound tracks. Mehboob (by RDB) was another movie featuring the pair of Rajesh Khanna & Hema Malini, which had some nice songs which however were never made the same impact as other more regular hits of Rajesh Khanna.

Prem Nagar, which also had the same beautiful coupld pairing up lost its tracks in the wilderness, inspite of boasting very well instrumented music.

Years later one of its song was borrowed to compose the 'Antakshari-Song' in Maine Pyar Kiya (1988-89). Perhaps many people would recognise this song from there. The song being 'Ja Mujhe Na Ab Yaad AA tu'.
