Yes.. it was based on a marathi novel by some eminent marathi writer.. I think it was the first serial where Lata Mangeshkar sung for the title song for a TV serial for the first time..

(rajit kapoor)

(soodesh berry)

7) raja aur rancho

8) street hawk
(english serial dubbed in hindi by the ddmetro)

there are many more serials like it but i can't remember rigth now hope any one can divulge any information about them....................
