Thanks ANT yaar for those wonderful scans.

I read in a previous post you transfer from vinyl to TAPE before converting to Mp3. Why don't you transfer straight from vinyl onto your hard drive? Surely audio tape quality is inferior to vinyl?

Let me know as I am trying to get the best-quality transfers of this title on CD.

Sorry i couldnt scan it all in one go..................my scanner isn't big enough to fit the whole vinyl cover

You are correct...........it is better to convert directly from vinyl to MP3



The reasons why i go vinyl to tape to mp3 is because years ago [past 20 years].............i used to copy my vinyl collection onto tape so i could listen to it in the car or on my walkman..............now those tapes i copied, i am converting them to mp3..........alot of my families original vinyls are no longer with us as many of our relatives in the past borrowed them and we didn't get them back as they lent them to the next person..........It is lucky that i did record them onto tape.
It is exactly the same with VHS films [past 20 years]..................I used to connect the lead to the video and copy them onto tape.................now i am converting them tapes to mp3 too...................i remember back in 1982-3 i had to put the tape recorder near the TV speaker and record as i had no connection lead knowledge back then.

Vinyl to tape does have its disadvantages..............i've noticed the song sounds with a bit more base...........but with todays MP3 converter software you can knock the base down increase treble add echo remove hiss sounds and most vinyl crackles

Past 2 years i am trying to backup my song collection into mp3 format..............originals and copies.

I understand you have to use audio tape recordings for Mp3 transfers if you no longer have the LP records. But it seems you have the vinyl of Walayati Babu (or is it damaged or missing?).

At your convenience could you transfer all songs directly from vinyl? I have this title on tape (copied from vinyl) but was looking for superior quality mp3 to make a CD. Unfortunately I no longer have the LP.

Thanks for welcoming me on this site. I have quite a large collection myself and hope to contribute positively to the forum. Hopefully I will get the chance to repay this favour soon! biggrin.gif

Yes i still have the vinyl for Walayati babu................its been with me for nearly 20 years................I have looked after it quite well.

I have posted the other 3 songs in SKS [Sangeet Ke Sitarey]................hope the sound is ok

Yes, the system is not letting me download anything. I assume I need to subscribe to get the download facility? Please do experiment to see if there is any difference in quality by transferring directly from vinyl.
