Song #49
Lata Mangeshkar - Sawanagagana Ghor Ghanaghata - Bau Thakuranir Haat (Year??) - Ranindranath Tagore Song is 2:50 min long, and @ 145 Kbps VBR This is the only RabindraSangeet of Lata that I know of {i just came to know there are few more Lata-sung-Tagore songs}. Needless to say, both music and lyrics is by Tagore himself. More correctly speaking, the song is adapted from RabindraSangeet by making the pace a little faster - probably to suit the film (Bengali film, Bau Thakiranir Haat). Lata's diction in the song is just brilliant! Lyrics and other info that I know of already provided with the ID3 tag of file & copy-pasted below: Sawanagagane Ghor Ghanaghata, from Bhanu Singh’s Padabali; Lyrics (as obtained from Geetobitaan - the book that has lyrics to all of Tagore's songs): Sawanagagane Ghor Ghanaghata Nishithayamini Re Kunj Pathe, Sakhi, Kaise Jawab Abla Kamini Re Unmad Pawane Jamuna Tarjit Ghan-Ghan Garjit Meh Damakat Bidyut Pathataru Lunthit Tharhar Kampit Deh Ghan-Ghan Rimjhim-Rimjhim-Rimjhim Barakhat Nirad Punj Shaal-Piyale Taal-Tamaale Nibiratimirmaya Kunj Keh Re Sajani Ye Duryoge Kunj Nirdaya Kaan Darun Baansi Kahe Bajayat Sakaruna Radha Naam Motim Haare Veesh Bana De Seethi Laga De Bhaale Urahi Bilunthita Lol Chikura Mama Bandh Champakmaale Gahana Rayanmae Na Jaao, Baala, Naolakishorak Paash Garaje Ghan-Ghan Bahu Dar Pawab Kahe Baanu Tabdaas Sawanagagane Ghor Gharnaghata Nishithayamini Re P.S: Had it not been for the year of release, this would have been my most detailed post ever I wonder if the Bengali sub-forum has more details on this. Someone tell me the yeeeeaarrrr. This post has been edited by sani_thakur: Jan 29 2007, 01:03 AM - Music Has No Language -

QUOTE(archimoz @ Aug 18 2005, 12:46 AM) Dear Sani-ji, Thanks for the rarity. I heard this song a few days ago. This seems to be her voice in the 80's (stand to be corrected with facts). The original number sung by Sachin-Karta in the 30's is just mind-boggling and for lovers of old bengali hits, no variant of that song can match up to that masterpiece. The wordings are alsmost the same: kuhu kuhu kuhu kuhu koyelia koyelia kuho-rilo mahua-boney mahua-boney mahua-boney...kuhu kuhu..... Regards-Archie. Howdy Mr.Archie, Thanks a lot for that piece of info - didn't know it was based on another song. More surprising is that this could/is Lata's voice in the 80s - maybe early 80s. Now, (being Bengali, and a fan of classical indian music, I have to ask), is the original nuber by Sachin-Karta uploaded somewhere in this group ? If not - would really really appreciate if U could upload it (in any appropriate sub-forum). I really wonder what other tracks this un-released film Devdas might have. Sani. Dear Sani-bhai, I have this version (given to me by a friend of mine from Calcutta). Regards-Archie. |

Dear Sani-bhai, I have this version (given to me by a friend of mine from Calcutta). Regards-Archie. Thanks a lot. Just another note: the original composer of this number is the legendary Bengali composer Kazi Nazrul Islam. Makes this number more nostalgic than it already is. - Music Has No Language -

Song #51
Here is a rather rare/unheard classical song based on Raag Malhar (to be more specific, Raag Miyan Malhar - like I know anything about raagas , so please visit http://sawf.org/newedit/edit04012002/musicarts.asp for more info. That's where I got my first whiff of the song some months back {and the author of the article refused to give me the entire song}, so finally got the full song some days back). The song is a brilliant one. Song: Na Na Na Barso Badal Aaj Barse Nain Se Jal Aaj Mann Ka Mor Ghayal Na Na Na Barso Badal Singer: Lata Mangeshkar Film: Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan (1959) Music: Vasant Desai Lyrics: Bharat Vyas File info: 2:58 Kbps @ 192 Kbps avg VBR [range: 160 - 192 kbps] , VCD rip Quality: Excellent sound quality, but file has some skips (no thanks to defective VCD), but a few skips can't scratch the beauty of this song. Of course, a non-skip CD/Vinyl version of the song in good quality would be most appreciated. - Music Has No Language -
