Hamara Forums _ Tourists paradise _ Looking To Buy A Ticket From Jfk To Del

Posted by: anurag Oct 14 2005, 11:05 PM

Anyone here knows a travel agent in NY area, who can get me a decent ticket for flying to India in December? I loathe paying 1600-1800 dollars for the ticket but then may be I am outdated. I need some confirmation if that is the case with the ticket prices these days.

Yes it is - if you're flying in Dec, that's the peak season sad1.gif and that's what the prices look like typically. If you delay you mayn't get a ticket. Try this travel agent - my cousin just got a ticket to travel in Oct from the NY area. Let me know how it works out. Good luck!! (I wanna go home too cry.gif )

C'mon Anurag. You can do better than that. Whatever happened to slipping through the dimensions and emerging (in Delhi) through a space warp?

T., thanks for the info but I think email would be slow to pursue now. Have her phone number?

Yes, hits I'd do that (slipping thru' whatever holes and warps!) but first, I would like to help the world economy (within my budget). Second, who knows if I have to go by Aerofloat with no guarantees of ever returning or reaching the destination, then having a tryst as well with some Russian beauties at the Red Square in Moscow. Now, how I can deny this opportunity to myself?

Anurag,
Try these two:
Meena Travels Inc (718) 891-4700 Talk to a guy called Raghu.

Taj Travels & Tours Inc (516) 327-9800 Talk to either Joji or to Susan.

Some of my friends have had good luck with Orbitz.com and makemytrip.com

Good luck.

Good Luck!

I am feeling homesick too sad1.gif .... Anuraag , try some internet searching for fare, most of the airfare end up with hardly 5 to 10% difference. Than whoever you call , you can ask for a bargain price. They normally have 10 to 12 % buffer in their comission so is the reason why price so much fluctuating.

$1167 @ http://us.makemytrip.com/best-deals/cheap-discount-tickets-usa.asp
$1030 @ http://www.yatratravel.com/airfare/airfare.php

So roughly you looking at average price of 1000 bucks to 1100 bucks

Thanks, Bibhas. I, eventually got tired of calling agents and have them call me later only to be disappointed with the dates and the prices that they offered and booked my ticket from travel.yahoo.com, which by the way, gave me the best deal.

BJ, 1000 to 1100 bucks for Dec travel are out of question, not even for the worse airlines such as aeroflot. But your suggestion for searching online was right on spot. I got some of the best prices online only -- a sign of things to come possibly in the future? There was a time when desi agents would make you almost grieve with their ways. However, I have had entirely different experience this time. It could be because I got to speak to female agents only, who were verynice to me. Makemytrip.com has a list of phone numbers of almost all the airlines, which was very useful to me since in just 5 minutes, I found out that now one needs transit visa even while flying thru' Paris (though, there are exceptions!). makemytrip.com has an online chat facility too and the guy chatting with me on that was good too. So, thanks, BJ.

I think, it'd be a great help to all of us who travel to India, if we can post various agents name and number here with the personal comments. There are a lot of people, who are looking for this kind of info, which is latest. I'd post two agents names and phone numbers tomorrow, who were very helpful to me.
