Oh I just saw this thread. Thanks a lot Parag for starting this thread. I will also keep updating whenever I upload Geetaji videos on the channel. The sad part is that I'm extremely pre-occupied with so many things that I never get enuf time. Thanks everyone for all the praise n appreciation. I'll try uploading a few more next weekend!

Thanks Parag! The idea behind starting this channel was to promote www.geetadutt.com to Geetaji's worldwide fans. I hope upon viewing the songs, more ppl will visit the web-site. I'll keep sharing Geetaji's songs on the channel whenever time permits.

Parag, now that you are working on a Mac, I think I will share my trick of how I extract mp3s from youtube videos.

Step 1: Download the video from youtube: When the youtube page is open in the Safari browser, click on the 'Window' tab and then click on 'Activity'. It will show you all the elements that have loaded on the page and the sizes of the files, double click on the large file, ( usually in Mb range, all the others would be in kb range). This downloads the flv video. Or otherwise Firefox has very neat add-ons that let you download videos too.

Step 2: I use a free program called iextractmp3. Once the video is downloaded, I drop the flv into the program, and it immediately extracts the audio file are you are done.

This worked great after I installed an add-on to my firefox and then using the iextractmp3 tool. The file generated is at 64 KBPS, so can not be shared on the HF server directly.

You can use any audio software to convert 64 kbps to 128 kbps. There is no appreciable loss of quality felt to the human ear.

You can use the lame encoder for the mac. Thats the encoder used on other platforms as well.

I am not so concerned about the fact whether it can be directly uploaded on HF or not. I am sorry I did not phrase my sentence properly. Whether it is 16 KBPS or 320 KBPS, listening to a rare/film version/with extra stanza song of Geeta ji is always a great experience for a bhakt like me.



All thanks to computers, internet, HF and great music lovers my collection of songs of Geeta ji has increased from less than 100 to more than 1000.

The joy of listening to her never before heard songs is unparallel for me!

I already did a little search and installed an add on called "Fast Video Download 2.0"

Its working fine and I can d/l the song as .flv and then extract mp3 out of it using iextrtactmp3

This was extremely nice and sweet of you saying all this about me. As I have said time and again, its my great pleasure to re-upload these lesser heard songs of Geeta ji and keep the forum active. My ultimate motive is that more and more music lovers should be able to listen to as many songs of hers as possible.

There are other forums and groups, but I found that HF is the best platform for me. And on top of everything, HF gave the life time opportunity to Geeta ji fans to launch the very first website dedicated to her. Its my pride that I was associated with this project and will continue to do so in the form of updates and upgrades.

I have made some great friends through this site (though I have not yet personally met most of them) and my ordinary life has got some meaning. Like every one, I have done some mistakes and trying to learn from them.

We only request music lovers to stay and enjoy this forum and the activity/discussion/songs here. Geeta ji herself has said:

HB, its truly remarkable to see that this forum has grown from a single post in Mohd Rafi forum (since there was no Geeta Dutt forum that time) to one of the most active forums and having its own dedicated website! It goes without saying that members like late Bappa, Mahesh, Alybaba, Dharmvir ji, Erum ji, Ashraf, Abbasi, Mahesh Sharma ji, Rinki, Madhavi, Alok, Anupama, Nimmi, BC ji, CM2 ji, Pradeep, Gop, Subir bhai and many more have done immense contributions to it.

Though we are not very large in number, we, a small group of fans of Geeta ji have made this forum a lovable place.

At the same time, its a pleasure to see more and more members taking interest here.

Wonderful Anupama. I of course did see and view the other videos too, but this one from Razia Sultana (1961) particularly caught my attention since I had never heard or even read about this song. Filmed on some unknown actress teasing Nirupa Roy, its a sweet song. This song made my day!

When I open the fifth page of this thread, FireFox quits. Anyone else experience this problem?

I'm also using Iceweasel/Firefox 3.0.6 and don't seem to be having this problem.
By the way, Why the video images are not visible in Konqueror? If flash plugin is installed shouldn't it be visible? For me on youtube site itself the pictures are visible. I have the gnash plugin for konqueror installed.
Try installing a slightly older flash plugin (if using the adobe one) 9 or before since newer ones seem to be crashing the nsplugin of konqueror.

Thanks for the feed back. It will help in isolating the problem. I use Konqueror only as a back up browser.
I think I have newer plugins. I suspect, there might be some problem with script language support. I will check in the synaptic manager for all related installations. Thanks for the help.

Try putting an old plugin. It should work then. Konqueror doesn't seem compatible with the newer plugin as per the google search I had done.
I prefer Epiphany as my backup browser. Konqueror is the best file manager though.

A great find Anupama. I have listened to this song so many times in last few days. The special Geeta Dutt touch is still alive and kicking even in the year 1961 in this song. This song is the song of the month for me. Thanks for the video and audio. This is like "Double Sundae" treat!

The special Geeta touch was always alive. Propaganda by others spread those rumours to hamper her career successfully. Try making a list of "bad" songs of Geeta ji and you'll know what I mean. Even when due to troubles her voice is different, it is still melodious.

If you are a windows user you can use orbit downloader (from www.orbitdownloader.com) or various firefox plugins to download the songs.

If you are a Linux user you can use the clive command line program (format is: clive <URL>) to download the video.

I believe firefox plugins are also available for Mac users.

This is so nice.. E.Sankara Sastri is none other than Eemani Sankara Sastri who is a noted Veena Maestro..of telugu origins. P. Leela , though a Malayalee...was a noted telugu singer with some of the finest songs...and now we got Geeta ji singing with her.. Great !
The film is in telugu too...Sansaaram.

Everyday when I visit Youtube, the first page that go to is your video page to find out what new songs are on offer. The range of song videos uploaded there is truly mind boggling and you seldom fail to surprise.

While scrolling through MohamedParvezbhai's blog on Rafi, I chance upon a link for the Rafi - Geeta charmer ' GHIRKE BARSE YEH GHATAYEIN' from DO ROTI.

I do not know how I missed out on that post of yours.

Perhaps due its being sandwiched between a good number of songs from DAROGAJI & DILLI KA THUG.
Truly it was my mistake, in not noticing this beauty.

Perhaps in the excitement of DAROGAJI videos.

An absolute delight. I have downloaded it & have been hearing it for the last half-an hour, even as I am writing this reply.

The joyous & playful pirouetting of a debonair Johnny Walker & beautiful Minoo Mumtaz was sheer magic.

This clip was an opportunity to see a young Minoo Mumtaz. She has, now, aged very gracefully.

Sureshji, I won't stop at 400. As long as I keep finding 'em in my collection and from here n there, I'll keep posting 'em. Most of these gems are available n scattered on youtube. I've just tried to make them all available at one place, on one channel, for Geetaji's fans. Do you know we've already covered over 140 movies?

I'm happy that you found the video song (Ghir Ke Barsein) in the midst of Darogaji n Thug. It's always fun watching any Rafi sahab's song that has been picturized on JW. In some songs it seems like Johnny Walker himself is singing the song. That's the magic of Rafi sahab's voice.

At last count I saw 323 videos in the site. Excellent work.

I fully agree that a lot of videos are strewn all over youtube - victims of sloppy tagging.
Some of the tags (" old gold' , for example) are so inane & ludicrous that looking for a particular song is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I do not envy your the task that you are up to.

Should you need any help please let me know, because I have subscriptions for over 70 channels of you tube, atleast 50 of them related to HFM.

Sureshji, thanks a lot for your kind offer. All 323 videos were ripped from my collection of movies. None of them were acquired from any youtube channel. What I meant was that there are so many Geetaji's songs scattered over YT but this channel is exclusively dedicated to her.

Even though I may be repeating myself, this Youtube channel has become the equivalent of Kaashi/Kaaba for all the fans of Geeta ji. I checked the channel and found that some sweet gems from the Bengali film Hospital have been posted on our channel. I wish Geeta ji was here amongst us to see how we love her songs and how much we cherish these melodies even after 50-60 years since they were recorded.
