Salam Friends,

I want you guys to write me the English names for the chess pieces............i know all of them in Farsi..........i played with many people...........but they also name each and every piece in their own language...........i am posting a chess board as well...........

Horizontal: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
Vertical: a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h

name them as #1 hori. is : Rukh in Farsi............i dun know in english, help sad.gif

mela bacha..........how can i correct u when i ,my self dun know.............but i did see word " bishop" somewhere.............the other day i was playing with an indian...............he's like My Haathi..........i knew haathi in urdu.......so i got he's talking about my Persian"Feel"....it's Feel in persian:lol: laugh.gif laugh.gif

We can play chess right here man, any1 up 4 a game?

Any1 heard of Ruth Sheldon? She was in my year at Parrs Wood. I held her to a draw once. That doesnt sound impressive on its own but when I say that she held the world champion to a draw it becomes a different matter... joke tongue.gif True tho, I swear I anit lyin.

thanks zairrrr.............i had a hard time playing with non idian, non pakistani and non persians people.............caoz indians and pakies language is easy for me to understand......and i know what they call for these pieces.....but not english or any other country ppl........once i played chess in calgary public library with a chinese man..... ....i was supposed to be studying there with my friends, but as soon as i saw chess board, i jumped up of my chair.........as i am chess crazy though iam not good player yet.......he was naming the pieces in english, and i didn't know what he means laugh.gif ........and he beat me sad.gif

5-- Pawn (Pijade in persian)

no idea what Iran calls.................but Afghani persian call them " piyada" or " askar" , askar is supposed to be a name given by folks........it shouldn't be a well known name.....but sure " piyada" should be the book name.............i dun think that Iran would call " Pijade" as it has no meaning in Persian language ..........rest has meaning
1-- Rook (Rukh in persian).........................rukh...........can be face to face...........or front....or face

2-- Bishop (Fil in persian)....................feel.........elephent...........

3-- Queen (Vizier in persian)...........vazier..........what u call it , priminister?..........lower than king

4-- King (Shah in persian)..............shah or padshah....

5-- Pawn (Pijade in persian)...........(doubtful yet)

6-- Knight (Asb in persian)............Asb.....................horse
