hello friends,
can someone provide me track listing of films[including singers], ghulam haider sahab did in pakistan after 1947.
from the info i have;he composed music for five films-

1]-beqarar[two songs by munnaver sultana have recently been uploaded in another thread],
2]-akeli,
3]-bheegi palkein,
4]-gulnar[1953],
5]-laila

looking for information about these films.
urzung khan sahab,ummer,inam,maheshji,pl help.

Mahesh Ji, I have just got the complete songs of three of his post 47 films (Shahida, Begaraar & Ghulam). As for as his Pakistani filmography is concerned, following is a complete list:
1949 - Shahida
1950 - Be Qarar
1951 - Akeli
1952 - Bheegi Palkein
1953 - Ghulam, Gulnar
I know a few of the songs from above films, will post the list in a while.

2]-any info about the following films-gul bakawali,chaudhari,sehti murad,yamla jatt[looking for track info],

Saw this thread just now. Innam had done well to give the track list, even id it is incomplete.
There is no Geetkosh type publication of Pakistani films so getting song lists are difficult
unless one has maintained personal database. MS sang for others too, before and
after partition. I am adding some of missing singers above.

Mahesh,

1. Munawwar Sultana sang for lots of music directors... actually she was one of the few playback singers in the early days of Pakistani Films (late 40s and early 50s) when singers like Zubaida Khanum and Kauser Parveen etc were not discovered. She sang for G.A. Chisthi, Rashid Attre, Ghulam Haider among others. She never sang for Khurshid Anwar though. I have uploaded one of her song for Rashid Attre in M. Sultana thread, maybe you missed it.

2. Ghulam Haider never composed for Laila. Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema mentions that Ghulam Haider composed for Laila and Noor Jehan acted in it, but it is false. This error arised because in 1954, a B grade Indian film with the name of Laila was released and its cast included Durga Khote, W. M. Khan, Daljeet, Shakila, Hiralal, NOOR JEHAN and Kammo. This Noor Jehan is ofcourse different than (real )Noor Jehan. Music of Laila was composed by A.R. Qureshi and not Ghulam Haider.

3. Ghulam Haider post-1947 work also includes an Indian film Aabshaar starring Nimmi and Raj Kumar. I have one incomplete song from this film sung by Munawwar Sultana - Dil par sou sou baar chalaye naina waley teer ho~ Is chorie kie dhoom machie hai Kabul aur Kashmir.

Are you sure that the female singer is Irene Parveen? I think Irene Parveen joined film industry much later... in 1957 I think.

Shahida had 2 Music Directors... Chisthi and Haider. Did you only provided the list of Haider's songs from the film ?

I don’t know which of them composed by Baba Chishti. I got only these four songs from ‘Shahida’ from Capri Music Karachi. BTW, Ummer, Kal mein Karchi ja raha hoon… agar Capri music se kuchh chahiye to aaj hi mujhe PM kardo … ‘Phir na kehna humen khabar na huwi’

The paper work and recording of three of its songs composed by Ghulam Haider
was done in 1947 and the produntion was restarted in 1948. GH was still in India
so Chishti did the rest of music work. Songs # 2 and 4 are by GH. I do not recall the
third one at the moment.

ummer,
ghulam haider sahab composed three songs for aabshar [53] all sung by munnaver sultana and written by qateel shifai.
i have one song-o dil churanewale,iss dil ko dil mein lele.i will try to ul it in a day or two
can you ul the incomplete song you have-dil par sau sau baar chalaye.

Aa raat zara thham thham kai guzar is Munawwar Sultana's song and it is NOT from Gulnar. Mazhar's website listed this song wrongly under Gulnaar's songs.

In Faasle Magazine there is an urdu article "50 saal mein Pakistani Mausiqi kai Urooj aur Zawaal" (which lists some hit songs since the inception of Lollywood) and the article lists this song as Munawwar Sultana song. It can be possible that the starting line is exactly the same and they are 2 different songs. Are you sure that it is sung by Noor Jehan?

Well, I am not sure because I have never heard this song, but it is confirmed that this song is from ‘Gulnar’. I have so many books and articles that claims this is from Gulnar & sung by Noor Jehan. Waisey bhi.. Noor Jehan was the heroin of Gulnar, how can this possible ke Master ji ne Noor Jehan se sirf teen hi gaane gawaey hoon?
One more interesting news, I have an article, which claims there was also a duet of Noor Jehan & Fazal Hussain in Gulnar.

I am sure there must be more than 3 songs of Noor Jehan in this film... I was just saying that there is a Munawwar Sultana song too with the same wording. I have heard that there was Roshan Ara Begum and Noor Jehan duet too in this film...

I downloaded the gulnaar song "Sakhi re" I think the sound quality can be significantly improved by wave editor (I tried it) only if the song is recorded at LESS volume (there is boom and distortion due to recording at very high volume). And of corse the song is truncated (only half the song is posted. If some body can post the complete song at 160-190 kbps, I can clean it and repost. I think Inaam sahib may have the full version. khawar sohail

an interesting piece of information i got from haimanti banerji's book on geetaji ,was that ghulam haider got some geetaji's songs recorded in 1950 and took them to pakistan.
anyone with any idea about these songs ?

I believe the Munavar Sultana who is still alive, lives in Mumbai and suffers from Alzheimer's, and interviewed by the gentleman in the link is an actress. While the one mentioned above is the singer who migrated to Pakistan and sang a few Ghulam Haider and GA Chishti song.....

Lets wait for other senior members to upload some songs from that era and confirm/clarify on this point...

Today is the punyatithi of great musician Ghulam Haider.I pay tribute to him.To the best of my knowledge the first movie of Ghulam Haider saheb was Swarag Ki Seedhi made in 1935.He sung some song in Movie Khananchi like Sawan ke nazare Hein and Nainon ke nain ki anokhi reet. with Shamshad.Here I upload a song by Munawwar Sulatana from the movie Mehandi .In this thread I have seen that some members are interested in the songs of Munawar Sulatana.Luckily I have one which is rare.

Its not clear from your post exactly which of the above songs you do and don't have. The songs of Gulnar are especially lovely. Please let me know if you don't have the first 4 from Gulnar and I'll upload.

If you have never heard Darbadar Phirte Hain from Shahida, you are in for a major treat!!! Its my favourite Ghulam Haider song, and one of the loveliest of that rich era.

Thank you so much Sir! Iam much a fan of Munawar Sultana Ji The song was really great gem. Both her rendition and Ghulam Haider Ji's music are par excellence. Doesn't she sound like Zeenat Begum Ji in some places? There are some small similarities in their voices, but can make out certainly who of the 2 is singing. Never heard this before (had no songs from Shahida).
