Can't seem to recollect the name... is it stone boy? A small Maldives family come across a rock. And a boy steps out of the rock, but he is visible only to the kids. The boy spends a major time with these kids in their home and all the fun that they have. Later as those kids grow up, the boy becomes invisible to 'em. And later when they have kids of their own... this phenomenon agains comes back.

Kya naam tha ....?

1.Tenaliram : a very well made serial about the witty genius.Wish they could make some more episodes.
2.Junoon: a really got bored of this one as it never seemed to end, I think all the modern soaps have taken this habit from Junoon.
3.Sauda: A classic story made by B.R.Chopra/Ravi Chopra
4.Thoda Saa aasman:Excellent performances by Nadira and Deepti Naval and a unique story of feminist revolution.
5.Kshitij Yeh Nahin: a serial by late Actress Durga Khote on widow remarriage, it had an excellent performance by Supriya Pilgaonkar(the lady later on wasted in Tu Tu Main Main.)
6.Wagle Ki Duniya: a satirical commedy produced by Durga Khote on modern society.
7.Chunni: a story of two friends turned into foes set against the backdrop of Punjab,produced by B.R. Chopra

Gul Gulshan Gulfaan (that was probably the first serial of Pankaj Berry!)

Parivartan (with Bina (Pradeep Kumar's daughter) as the matriach of a rich family)

This entire serial was based on the journey on Indian Railways.I think the message was how railways contribute to the national integration.Om Puri as the main anchor traverses the length of the country from Kanyakumari to Jammu.

2.Intezar
The message of this serial was a mother waiting for her seperated son.This serial was exclusively shot on railway platform.
The main characters were Rajendra Gupta,Sangeeta Naik,Pawan Malhotra etc.

3.Dil Dariya(1990)
Shahrukh Khan as the lead role.Story about pre and post partition

4.Doosra kewal.(1989)
Another Shahrukh khan serial.

5.Basera
Mehmood as a lead role and Channa Ruparel.
Story about Tenants

6.Mamaji
Deven Verma.

The hero was Mazhar Khan (and I think Kanwaljeet and Ratna Pathak were there too) but the scene stealer was Sushmita Mukherjee...

Suresh Wadkar (singing for Mazhar Khan) a pretty good ghazal "Mumkin hai safar ho aasan" in climax part of the serial..

The director was Anand Mahendru...

Some of the serials that I can recall I used to watch and love are Star Trek (Captain Kirk made me like him so much that I fancied being him when I'd grow up! ), Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (can recall the Sofa-cum-bed episode so vividly!) with Vicco Vajradanti's ad before and after the show featuring Sangeeta Bijalani who was being prepared for the wedding by her sakhiyans.

Some others that I loved watching were Khandan made by Shridhar Kshirsagar which had a cute nurse in it, Hum-log, Buniyaad, Yatra by (?) Shyam Benegal, Idhar Udhar, Wah Janaab featuring Shekhar Suman, Spiderman in the afternoon and World Sports by Anupam Gulati at 4:30 pm on Sunday. Vikram Betal at 5 pm used to be the last show before that 5:45 pm Hindi Feature Film which was preceeded by a royal 15 minutes of constant stream of ads that everyone in the house took advantage of by wrapping up the chores during that time.

There was also an excellent copy of Back to the Future movie called Indradhanush by Anju Mahendru. Oh, before I forget, I shoud mention another serial called "Kacchi Dhoop" that had Bhagyashree of Maine Pyar Kiya fame. I still remember, I had predicted that she'd make a star someday. And she did n't prove me wrong.

In real life too I think they both got together, then their marriage fell through. Now that bit I am not sure! His name was some Khan. That is all I remember

Are… agar.. relative ke ghar pe shooting ho rahi hai to .. tension kaya hai… get going… “be on the sets”.. and then u can have title clip too….

So who is playing role of “Swami” now.? Are they planning to show grown up “manjunath.. AKA Sawami” ???

Yes.. it was based on a marathi novel by some eminent marathi writer.. I think it was the first serial where Lata Mangeshkar sung for the title song for a TV serial for the first time..

I want to mention here that I ve been through the village (while going on to kudremuk and Hornadu) where the episodes were shot. Beautiful place.

Anyways...
Does ne1 here remember the serial Chunauti. I had recorded the title track by AK years ago but can no longer locate it. Does ne1 have it and be kind enough to u/l it.

Karandikar uncle - It used to be aired in afternoon show. An old man "Karandikar uncle" used to go hunting for recipes to different houses in a colony. Innovative cook show.

Craft show - Afternoon show where they teach to make craft items. Remember the use of "Chipkanewala padarth"

Fatichar - Pankaj kapur and that 3ft. fellow "Gattoo"

Kharee Kharee - Anu Kapoor as a Servant

Singhasan Battisi - Folk tale of a singhasan with 32 idols. Every idol tells a story to the Raja.

Saap Seedhi - when ZeeTV was launched - Mohan Kapur in snakes and ladder weired quiz game show. Those who give wrong answers would end up in a pool of water.

Shows targeted at children include Faerie Tale Theatre, Dada Dadi ki Kahaniyan, Vikram Betaal, Sigma, Stone Boy, Malgudi Days, Tenali Rama, Potli Baba Ki (puppet show), He-Man, Superhuman Samurai Cyber Squad, Knight Rider, Teletubbies, Street Hawk and a horror serial Kile ka Rahasya (1989).

Not many remember but Doordarshan used to have serials before sponsored programmes came into existence. Serials like Dadi Maa Jagi, Bibi Natiyonwali and Laddoo Singh Taxi Wala ( starring Paintal ) were also popular
Sarab Sanji Gurbani was the first sponsored programme on Doordarshan, sponsored by Texla TV
Doordarshan also telecast English cartoons at 12.00 noon during summer vacations in a programme named "Fun Time" which showed cartoons like Spider-Man, Giant Robot (Johnny Soko and his flying robot), Gayab Aaya, Guchhae, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Jungle Book Shonen Mowgli (a dubbed Hindi version of a Japanese anime with original music composed by Vishal Bharadwaj), Talespin & Duck Tales also the comic plays of Charlie Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy and Didi's Comedy Show.
