The actresses of the golden times(40's,50's,60's)were all very beautiful with unspoilt,natural looks.They were all special in their own way.please name your own favourite actresses,four of them .otherwise one may just go on and on........
my own favourites are;
1,MADHUBALA-she is tops all the way.
2,Wahida rehaman-she has the most perfect features
3,Vyjayanthimala-she is the arrogant royal beauty
4,Suchitra sen
The others were all beautiful and very special,be it meena kumari,nargis,geeth bali,nutan,mala sinha....................all

Madhubala (in b/w movies... Maughal-e-azam, which is in part color, didnt like her in the color part... was she sick that time? esp. in the song that comes after she spends a night with him and he gets intoxicated before she is put in prison)

Of course i like old era actresses. I said Vijantimala was very beautiful and Sadna very sexy.
Well todays actress are mostly half naked, thats why they look sexy. Well thats my logic.

Yeah, I also don't get it. Raveena looks like a she-male.
As for suhana_safar complaining that some members found Jaya B. pretty looking ... I agree with you on this being just too much. We need to pass out some beauty judging lessons to these members.
And Pradeep, please ... the concept hasn't been redefined by the changing times ... it has only been strengthened that ugly women shouldn't be allowed to appear in movies.
Now, what are suhana_safar's thoughts on Kajol. I would really like to know.

Arre, its not how she moves. More like how she looks. I think she has good body structure and straight shoulders.

--Madhubala (almost perfect natural beauty)
--Meena Kumari (kya adaaaein hain yaar, really she knew how to present her beautifully)
--Waheeda Rehman (simply beautiful)
--Nutan ( was made for black & white films, she suited so much in them)
--Jaya Bhaduri ( don't know why, but her innocence for sure)

Pradeep,the pic of vy was lovely,from her first movie bahaar isnt it? she looks very tender,but later she bloomed and looked beaau..............tiful.
All guys seem to confuse sexy with beautiful,may be to a certain extent it is,but beauty is sheer perfection of features and that something which draws a second,third........nth look.
I feel madubala fully clad is far more sexier than the mallika sher and the lot.
Geethabali too had loads of sex appeal,without becoming half naked.

I think Sharmila was great looking-beautiful ,glamorous and very classy.
In movies like An Enening in Paris,Mere humdum mere dost,Aradhana,yakeen..........in all her movies she looks WOW.....unbeatable
Zeenat aman too had a lot of class...she could wear anything and look great without looking cheap or exposed.

at the end of the day, i prefer 65 year old Waheeda to the young Sharmila anyday!

Neetu is very cute and bubbly but not beautiful..........Geeta Bali too had similar looks,very cute and bubbly,also Ameeta,the star of Tumsa nahi dekha and goonj uti shehnai,etc;
I have always liked Asha Parekh,and love watching her movies,she is very pretty and her movies are great entertainers,besides having great music.She especially looks good with shammi kapoor,and sunil dutt too.

I adore Asha Parekh. Many think she had huge rear blah blah.. I think she is a great dancer, great actress, good looking, and fits in funny scenes very easily. After watching Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon I became a huge fan of hers. Gotta upload her pics on HP.

I think Asha Parekh never married, and she was rumoured to be involved with Producer director Nasir hussain,who introduced her to films in Dil Dekhe Dekho,and since then acted in all his movies until late seventies, and probably Yaadon ki Baaraath was the first movie to be made without her in the lead.
She had her own distinctive style, and she was very pretty...............I think so

In this section of the Forum I saw the picture of Vaijayanthimala (spelled phonetically) when she was very young.
I saw her in person at JFK airport a few years ago. Although I had seen her on stage, decades ago, in a Bharatanatyam performance, I have little recollection of that show or what she looked like then. My image of the actress is based on recorded song sequences with Shammi Kapoor in "Badan pe sitarey","Bol Radha bol" with Raj Kapoor, and in "Paigham" and "Naya Daur" with Dilip Kumar.
My daughter was with me at the airport, and I mentioned to her that this lady was once a leading actress in Hindi films, and added "what time does to people!
Later I showed her one of those recorded song sequences, and my daughter observed: "Boy, was she pretty"!

Yup, when I think of Rekha I think tawaif. I dont mean to make a derogatory remark but she only looked good in that costume. Tanuja was very cute in that film with Jeetendra where she sings "aap mujhe achhe lagne lage" in green salwar.

She looked scary in some of her recent photos. I liked her in "hothon mein aisi baat".
I hear her son is now making movies. Suchindra Bali. Now the best looking chap but his acting will tell us more about him I think.

Chitra ji do you know about that girl who was named 'Nancy' (man!! she was beautiful) in a film, while name of the hero in the film was 'Tony', I only know this much, I think the film was released in late seventies or initial eightees.

I think that is Baaton Baaton Mein (1979) starring Amol Palekar and Tina Minum. I could be wrong.

I havent seen Ganga Jamuna so no idea of how she looks. Will have to watch it now. Aur Yusuf sahab ki filam hai to dekhna padega abhi.

Chitra ji, 'Ganga Jamna' is a tragic story and it ends in the same mode.
Have you seen 'Ram Aor Shyam'? Thats really a worth seeing, although plot of the film is quite ordinary but Yusuf sahab's acting is at its peak.
'Kohinoor' is also a great light comic film, again Dilip at his best.
'Naya Daur' is my all time favourite, great story, great songs, great acting, simply a great classic.
My next target is 'Leader'.

Since we talkin of DILIP KUMAR films, I got some DVDs like :
Leader - Man It was not all that! Songs are of course good!
Should DK have won the award for LEADER? (i think he did right)
I not sure now I see the movie!
Ram aur Shyam - It was some sweet ass acting by DK in that one!
Scenes between him and Pran were the best!

I will have to see this one for sure now. I love the "ek shahenshah ne" song. I watched this song on DVD and it looked so good. Quality was awesome.

Yea that was wee bit of drag but I loved the dialogs. Specially the one at that old khandahar like place where he asks Waheeda to go away... something like "yehi woh aurat ki maryada hai bhagwan,.... kya tum uss ki yeh bhent sweekaar karoge??... yeh wohi badbakht insaan hai......" "Shankar mujhe maaf kardo *sob sob sob* mujhse bhool ho gayi" "nahin Rupa nahin, tanhaaiyon mein tum apni maut ki bheekh maangongi lekin tumhe maut tak nahin milegi...tum chali jaao Rupa tum chali jaao....." blah blah blah... I dont remember the whole thing now. That was some scene!

How abt Hema Malini's Seeta Aur Geeta? 3 movies on the same story
I guess Seeta Aur Geeta and ChaalBaz are more related as both have double roles for heriones

Anil Kapoor starrer "Kishen Kanhaiya"...
One more I can recollect has Jackie Shroff doing the double act, can't remember the name though...
Except for this Jackie Shroff starrer flick, I guess all other were hits...Isn't that surprising!!!!! Same story 4 hit movies??
