Mr. India (1987) had a few songs by Guru....Kaate Nahin Katate...Karte Hain Pyar Mr. India Se....and, Zindagi Ki Yehi Reet Hai....
According to VN's book, there is a slower version in Guru's voice of the song Zindagi Ki Yehi Reet Hai, which starts with Khelte Khelte Ek Titli.... I have the video of this movie and this slower version is actually sung by, i think, Shabbir Kumar..... So whats the truth?....Is VN wrong in mentioning this as Guru's song (his book is otherwise very accurate)??? Or is it that it was later dubbed in Shabbir's voice since Guru would not have been alive for any rerecording, if done??? Can someone throw some light on it? eskayes

Thanks guys for the two slow versions of Zindagi Ki Yehi Reet Hai. I also have another slow version of the same song with a female voice, just wondering how many slow versions are there.

Thanks guys for the two slow versions of Zindagi Ki Yehi Reet Hai. I also have another slow version of the same song with a female voice, just wondering how many slow versions are there. Thank you for the upload of Guru's version! Guru's version had much more clarity in it. Somebody posted earlier that the film may have had Guru's voice in it. In the re-released version they may have replaced it with Shabbir Kumar's voice. Reminds me of Maine Pyar Kiya, with the song "mere rang mein." In the DVD, they completely edited the interludes of the song to make it sound original rather than the famous "Countdown" version. Why they used Shabbir Kumar for the voice? My hypothesis is that they used his voice in the movie for the joke song "na maangu sona chandi, hum maange maafi didi, lo pakde hum kaan se" so they may as well use his voice in the movie. If I was the music director and if I couldn't use the "yun" version, then I certainly would have opted for Amit Kumar of Sudesh Bhosle. Actually, I might have ended up with using Nitin Mukesh!!! Regarding Azad's question, there are two slow versions: 1) Kavita Krishnamurthi with children chorus singing when Anil Kapoor was feeling sad that he failed and could not get food for the kids. Kavita K. was picturized on a little girl. 2) the sad version we discussed on this thread. Speaking of Mr. India, do you think Amit Kumar will end up singing on Mr. India 2? |

If this does come true, then all the hard work that I tried doing in learning how to play various Indian musical instruments, learning raga and tala theory, and listening to Indian music for hours and analyzing them would come to waste. Being a 2nd generation Indian, the music is what brought me back to my culture. Secondly, there is a fine difference between hype and true praise. Each person has their likes and dislikes. Even if people in the KK forum do hype him, then what is the problem? As long as they keep their hyping under control (meaning that they don't go to other forums and bash other personalities), then that is perfectly fine. Nearly five years ago, when I saw yoodleeyoo.com, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world that Kishore Kumar fans called him Guru. It's all the matter of self-discipline. |
