Which album are these from--I notice the songs are numbered 17 & 18. Which are the other songs on the album? Which year are these? Sound like 50s. I have heard geet kitne ga chuki hoon but did not have the song--the other one was new to me.

Priyaji, this was from Rare-Non Film Ghazals/Geets CD, bought from Indianscreen.com. It has only 2 Non-Film songs of Ashaji and remaining ones are from other singers like Mohd.Rafi , Hemant Kumar, Talat Saab etc. ( I Have already posted in respective forums). These are I think from early fifties and there is no other information on the cover, except for the singer name and lyrics.
These are also not available with Hamara CD.

Thank you for your u/ls, I wonder when I'll listen to them!

Bade hain dil ke kaale is from Dil Deke dekho - 1959. MD Usha Khanna. It is one of those rare tandem - in the movie (if I remember it right), there's this Rafi song first - Megha re bole, followed by this duet immediately.

Another such instance that readily comes to mind is Guide - Lataji's Mose Chhal and Rafi saab's - Kya Se Kya Ho Gaya.

Can anyone recall anymore such songs?

Speaking of Guide... one of the movies I can watch over and over periodically. This list includes Sangam, Jewel Thief, Mughal E Azam ...

Thanks for the correction Talaikyaji, I am sure you like these number. I was really amazed by their good quality about those two songs -Zindagi aur Toofan which I had d/l from a website very long back and now found it. I wonder why other original songs from Hamara CD or RPG are not of such good quality.

VN bk is Vishwas Nerurkar's bk which has the complete stats of asha's hindi output till 1993 or so. Very useful. It can be got only from the author and his selected dealers I think.

Yes Zankib saab I too love this song. But one point struck me about the song--could be my imagination or something to do with this particular file. We all know in those days Asha and Lata never recorded together. I kept feeling that Asha's parts in the song while beautifully rendered (she took the song to another level with that final alaap) had a slight mechanical echo--maybe it was added on--dunno about all this technicalities but it was as if hers was the superimposed layer if anyone can figure what I am talking about.

Mohd. ji, sorry for the license, but I tried to clean up "Sakhi Ri Sun Bole" ( Miss Mary, Lata ji and Asha ji) for my listening pleasure. Since I spent a lot of time with trial and error, u/l the "cleaner" version, if anyone wants it. What do you think guys, did it make a difference?

Mohdsaab, ek or actually 3 aur request hai aapse. U had ule dthe lovely HK-Asha duet yeh hansta hua caravan--do u have their other 2 duets from the film? O jal mein rehne waali and baharein bhi dekhi nazare bhi dekhe. Also the Asha solo aaya kaun meri mehfil mein dil hua diwana....

You are right priyaji, this track is by Lataji and not Ashaji, I shall move it to Lataji's Forum. Sorry, I received this song with a wrong tag. I have the Chandni Chowk -Ashaji's 2 songs -requested "Tera dil kehan hai " and "Eizam Eizamji jitne bhi gham hai".
and I am posting now.

That is such a sweet composition ... and such a good song that I haven't heard before. I especially like the mix of the alaap and singing. Indeed Sajaad Sahab's compositions are amazing! Thanks for this.

In return I'd like to offer a pensive number composed by O.P Nayyar from the movie Kalpana. I've always liked this song (ever since I was a kid!) My Dad had it on an old EP that was on it's last legs ... luckily this version is from a CD!

Why nobody seems to remember another Asha classic " Poocho na hame hum tumse mile kya kya nazrane laye hai dene ko mubarak baat hame aankho main ye aansoo aaye hai ..... " . I do not know which film is this song but it seems to be composed by O.P.Nayyar.

He he here I am back with Chandni Chowk. While browsing the VN bk--seems to be my only reading these days!!!--saw 2 mishra yugal geet from CC--one is a song by Asha, Lata and Meena (M)--banno ke haath lagi mehndi, the other is with lata and Shamshad--har baat poochiye har haqeeqat na poochiye...
Do u or anyone else have these songs--never heard them. If anyone has them please do ul them.

Thanks Mohdsaab--ya I really wish someone had a clearer version--I think the tape is strained in places. I have never seen Chandni Chowk in shops--has it been released by HMV?
From my scanning of the VN bk this seems to be the only song with these 3 singers.
We must start a thread on such songs with 3-5 singers--of course mmost may not be available but I love such songs--titans together--aur kya chahiye.

Mohdsaab U have telepathic powers!!!! How often I think of a song and the next thing I know it is in Ur classics' thread--I was just thinking of dil ki kahani when we mentioned nigahein milane ko jee chahta hai yesterday. This too is one of my favs, I believe Ashaji's daughter's too. In more than one article she mentions how she loves this song by her mother and how she srt of realised what an awesome singer her mom was when she heard her sing this on stage.

BTW wrong place to be asking but how many songs has Mukesh sung? I notice Asha has hardly 50 duets with him whereas she has loads more with Manna Dey, Mahendra kapoor and even singers like Suresh Wadkar and Mohd Aziz. Talat saab reduced his singing assignments early but even they have sung more than Asha and Mukesh. Obviously we need not even talk abt Rafi and KK in that context.

This is an extended film version - Track time is 5.00 minutes and this version has not been released in cassettes/CD/LP and it has extra third verse which I have heard for the first time. Record/CD/Cassettes version released by HMV/RPG is around 3 minutes.

Thanks Mohdsaab. Would U believe I had the Kalapani song on cass as good quality and converted it. Then got a digital version from the net and threw off my earlier version. THEN listened to the new one I had and it was noisy and bad. Glad to get this one now.
BTW the koi aayega song is nearly double the usual track time!!!!

Welcome Priya. Most of the songs when we compare from film versions we find that the record/Cassette versions are edited & shorter than film versions. Even I have realised that if we blindly order some songs from Hamara CD or buy CD's available in the market, then later we repent finding that they are copied from 78 rpm and extended film versions songs are available from DVD's.

Mohdsaab I have a 6.31 minute version. The file is nearly 6 mb. I am facing the weirdest internet problems these days due to some problem in the phone line. Keep getting error messages. Will have to compress the file to 64 kbs mp3pro. Will try to ul it tonight.

No Mohdsaab, apart from HF problems I am having a definite problem with my connection--and it has to do with the phone line. At times it is so bad I cannot open any site in IE. So maddening. And when I ul something I have to actually gape at it and monitor it and if the connection goes dead check my mail in outlook to revive it!!! Ridiculous to say the least!!!!

This song is double the standard version that is released--odd na this chopping policy or half a song release kind of stuff!!!

Just a small correction with respect to the song "Tum Bade Woh Ho", a Talat - Asha duet. HFGK credits it to a movie "Imaan" released in 50s with music by Motiram and not 1955 movie "Inaam"

Do U have both versions of mujhe gale se laga lo in good quality? I have asked for this song on several forums and received several versions (guilty) and also have my own tape versions but I just adore this song and have not got a version that is in really good quality. If U have them on cd and they are in 'cdq' please ul them too as well as the other Asha songs in the movie. Boy! Do I make demands!!!

Which album are these from--I notice the songs are numbered 17 & 18. Which are the other songs on the album? Which year are these? Sound like 50s. I have heard geet kitne ga chuki hoon but did not have the song--the other one was new to me.
