Thanks so much Cinemaniacji for these lovely songs. Am hearing the Aakhri Dao and AbE Hyat songs for the first time!!! Also the Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke song is an addition to my collection. The other songs I have but still downloaded them as they were not on my hard disc.
U guys have all helped me so much to add to my Asha collection--thanks from teh bottom of my heart.

Nope cannot find it in the VN book--the only song I know that goes like this is from Saranga with Rafisaab but taht is 1960. Dl karne ke baad lemme see if it is listed under any other title.

Thanks Cineji!!!!!!!!!!! This was one of them. Remember I got a vcd with the song skipping The other song was zameen ki bhi khair--I have both parts as a single file--this and kuch kaam na aaya ie--but the quality is not good--skips a bit and hs some clicking sounds.

That reminds me of interesting joke... actually it had happened in reality but later on spread everywhere in mumbai as joke :-
Before you read the joke you need to know this word "Jhaala" and "Jhaaliyo".
Jhaala in marathi means "happened" and "jhaaliyo" in guju means "to hold on to something"

Once a guju was travelling in mumbai's famous local train ..... where everyone pushing in and out of the train to make their way.... So this guju on a push from the crowd , fumble a little bit and with a anger on his face looking around at what was going on... On this a marathi gentleman standing next to him asks "Kay Jhaala" meaning what happened..... On this the guju replies " Jhaaliyo hout tau padiyo naa hout" ... meaning if I was standing while holding on to something ... would not have fallen ....

These sound like Suraiyya renditions. This is strictly my opinion. There are a couple of notes in the couplets that don't sound like her, but Suraiyya hasn't sung many semi-classical songs.

I said I do not think it is Asha and stand by it--the singing does not sound like Suraiyya to me either for the simple reasong that I do not think she could sing such numbers--otherwise not too sure abt her voice variations but all her songs that i have heard are usually relatively simple with minimal pitch fluctuations and variations in tune.
Where are SB and Mohdsaab?
BTW where is Unni? Have not seen him for long. Ab hum kiske saath ladenge?

Koi baat nahi. I am quite honored to be compared the all-knowing HF mule. The
laath maarna part of the mule shall be conveniently ignored.


I agree that neither song sounds like Asha. Aur Suraiaya bhi nahi lagte.
There was (is???) a Hindustani classical singer called Nirmala Devi who
was known for her rendition of thumris. She is in fact the mother of actor
Govinda. The voice sounds like hers. I have not heard her much so
standard disclaimers apply. I compared the voice in these couplets with
that of the voice in the song "Ulfat ke jaam pila pila mere saaqi" from the
same film sung by Nirmala Devi. And it seems to be a match.
Nirmala Devi is also one of the voices in the song from "Bawarchi" by Madan
Mohan "Bhor bhayi aaya andhiyaara".

So, this COULD be the "Nirmala" who has sung one of the other songs in this
film and could also be voice of this unknown woman.

I really was puzzling over who this Nirmala was who seems to be part of so many discussions recently. Mystery solved. Both Govinda and his elder brother sing quite well too.

The mule retracts. SB's observation on Nirmala Devi makes the most sense. I've altered my previous posts accordingly.

It is true though that Suraiyya has sung semi-classical songs. Her ability to do so is much understated and under-documented.

You see you'll have to excuse my mule once in a while. After all, we're still roaming down Hollywood Boulevard heady with the dizziness of success.

Hiss, fade in, fade out, lowered the volume too... hope it sounds acceptable I could isolate very little of the noisy part to work with. Ideally when digitizing, its always good to record a sec or so before and/or after the actual piece. Helps when editing out all the hiss and crackle!

My friend Pulkit also uses Cool Edit and talks abt this 1 sec before and after. Wish I knew how to do it all. But then as Unni says hum to buddhu hai--hamare samajh mein thode hi aayega.
Is cool edit cheaper than Sound Forge?

Regarding forums don't we have Talkzji the official mascot of the LM grp? When she is not breaking her plates I am sure she has lot of time for the LM forum.
As for Geeta she is one singer who almost 99% of music lovers like--U rarely see anyone who does not like Geeta. As for hard core fans U have Mahesh and ummer who recently joined HF but then one is a doc and the other is studying to be one so guess they do not have that much time.

There are 2 snippets actually in the film--one with music, a faster romantic version (altho just a couple of lines!!!) picturised on Madhubala. The other version with no music is picturised on Lalita Pawar--before anyone goes Good Heavens!!! she is KK's mom but in reality Madhubala's mom and a good sati savitri lady in the film!!! I have a fondness for that version. The song is listed in the VN book so I was hoping there was a full record version released but no one seems to have any knowledge of such a case.

Cineji!!!! U really ought to get Ur ears tested!!! Asha's song sounded like an announcement, then many sounded like Lata and now U say these 2 are no different--they are quite different in pitch and tempo!!!! Ah but maybe if it had been the case of any other singer I would not have paid that much attention.
BTW U did not tell me if U have the other song from Bhagwan Parshuram. I loved mere man ke mansarovar mein when U uled it and its nasha still has not subsided.

Thanks Cineji for the song!!! Do U have the others too from the film--do u get these from vcds of the movies? Bec there is no needle scratch or hiss or such creepy stuff. I checked our Musicworld today for vcds and dvds--the rarest i could find were Rakhi and Chor Bazar (bah no Asha songs)--all the others were stuff like Golmaal, Anarkali and all popular stuff. I am planning a trip to Hyd soon outwardly for reseach purposes--maybe can get some rare stuff there--any one knows good places there apart from Musicworld and Sangeet Sagar and such shops?

When I first watched Jhumroo it was on an obscure channel called Jain TV--it was a channel that got badly transmitted with a lot of disturbance and I was really confused thinking Madhubala was in a double role and why she was one minute cultured and sophisticated and the next minute like a chattering monkey!!! Then later realised that was her sister. She must have been a beauty too.

Actually I did not think there was a tandem version by Lata although that
would have been great to listen to. I can only think of twice that the sisters
sang the same song, one from a 50s film with music by Hemant Kumar (I
think the film was "SamraT") and the other of course is the more recent
"Rudaali". Their voices were not at their prime in the latter. And Asha was
still very raw in the former. So "Bin baadal barsaat" would have been the
perfect time-frame, especially given Lata's excellent rendition of "Zindagi
kitni khoobsoorat hai" in the same film.

Point to ponder actually. When the brain is rather small, the ears may seem extraordinarily large in proportion. But then when the ego is large enough to produce a swollen head, the ears just might look small. So after deep research I am inclined to concur with Divyanjaliji's opinion.

Ye to universal truth hai (mai). Purush heart kum use karte hain(heartless hoten hain na) aur brain jyada use karte hain...heart kum use karne ke karan heartfail ho jata hai.... isi liye purushon ki maut ka main reason heart fail hona hai. I have these songs sung by Mohd. Rafi.
The first song requested "Ke main Jhooth boliyaan" is sung by Mohd. Rafi and Balbir from the movie Jagte Raho (1956).
The second song "Humdum mere maan bhi jao" by Mohd. Rafi is from the movie Mere Sanam (1965).

If you wish I could upload them in the Mohd. Rafi forum.

Are you perhaps looking for a different version of these songs sung by Asha ji?
