waqas and fellow readers, ive tried to translate the punjabi shairi
into my tooti phooti urdu for u to better understand Mian jee's shayri i hope it sounds ok, ive never tried translating from punjabi before Deni hai jaan aur dena hai sar is pyar mein, to phir gham ki dhamki se kya darna Mian!! ranjha, jhoot yeh door hoga, ant sach ka sach aa ubharna Jaan soyee mehboob pe fidaa hai, humne khud apne watan mein hai ik roz marna Jaahil log ashiqon ko marein taaney, jaise pagal kutte peeche bhaagna Har waqt rab ko yaad karoon, nahin ishq ko badnaam karna Is ishq ki rivayat hai yehi, jind, jaan aur sar ko vaarna Lahu hamesha nikalta hai khanjaar ke vaar se Yeh nasihatein teri aisi lagein, jaise rait ki dewaarein Sar diye baghair ishq nahin rang laata, yeh nahin hai kachi yaarian Unke zakham na bhareinge qayamat tak, jin ko lagi hain prem kataarian Sooli chadna aur zara na fiqar karna , shuru se hai ishq ki rasm e aaeen Qazi!!! |

Heer is traditionally sung without any musical instrument or with one or two instruments only. I have downloaded the first two versions of an unknown artist and of gulam ali saheb. Kuch Khaas maja nahin aya sunne main . Extra music, more than necessary, have been used in these two versions.
MUNDYO KISI KOL ASHA SINGH MASTATNA JI DI HEER HAIGI TE UPLOAD KARO TAHIN SWAD AYEGA. When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others

Well this Asa mastana version is a personal favorite.
it is very very folk. pure folk. And maheshks sahib, the first one is by "iqbal bahu", and that one has only bansuri in it. I guess it depends upon what u expect or what u grew up listening to I don't mind heer with music, minimum however. |

QUOTE(Dharmaan Khan @ May 2 2005, 11:13 AM) man! I was so glad to see heer by jagjit. i lov his voice. his voice is the most beautiful voice. I am glad for ur contribution by the way khan sahib. Ghulam ali has a few more versions of heer. one of them is much better than this one. I especially like the mehdi hassan version. have u listened to it. he has added a little classcial touch to it. |
