The "whispering voice" reminds me of Rafi Sahab's another song Dilruba Dil Pe Tu from Raj Kumar.
I'm sure every Rafian has this song. Can someone please listen to it and tell me what Rafi Sahab whispers after Aaj Ek Saath Mehake Hain Do Gulaab?
Ek Tu Aur Main Uthe Hain Do Moti????? unsure.gif (I've heard this line a thousand times but I can't seem to get this right)

Hear the last verse where Rafi sahab sings - Hum Bhi Toh Aag Mein Jalte Rahe esp. Ooo Hooo Hoooooo Hoooooooooooo. His transition from low to high note is simply out of this world! bow.gif

Anyone?

Asha: aaj ek saath mehake hain do gulaab
Rafi: ek dor mein gunthe (or gundhe) hain do moti
Asha: ek saath dhadke hain do dil

Exon

Oh gr8 Exonji! bow.gif

Ek Dor Mein Gunthe Hain Do Moti - ummmm that makes sense!

Thanks a lot Exonji! God Bless!

Oh, it is a while since I visited this thread. smile.gif

So, Exon has it right.

Yes, Anu Ji, that last time Rafi Saab says, "Ham Bhi To Aag Mein Jalte Rahe, Pyaar Ki Sholon Pe Chalte Rahe, Ohhohoho Ooooooooooooo", had always caught my attention as something unique.

Probably, SJ (I think, Shankar) wanted to infuse a western and somewhat Beatles-ish tinge in Rafi Saab's voice. In fact, this Dilruba song by Shankar is the precursor to another comparable song of Shankar again from Film:Janwar(1965)--"Dekho Ab To Kis Ko Nahin Hai Khabar", an out-and-out Beatles tune/composition.

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

In fact, each of Rafi Saab's songs needs that kind of dissection and analysis.

Venkat

As long as you enjoy Rafi Saab's music, pls don't care whether you are a raw or a ripe listener wink2.gif

When it comes to singing, first comes Rafi saab. Then comes God.
