If you do not mind, I have a comment.

Such informative and researched threads as this would be more appealing, if we take each song and explain how and of what it is a parody! In stead of just listing all songs in one post and in a difficult-to-comprehend, longish list and that too without any explanatory comments!!!

Anyway, my humble critique!!

Well, has anyone mentioned the parody of the old S.D.Burman's private song, "Dheere Se Jaana Bagiyan Mein Re Bhanwara"?

In fact this has two parodies, both of which I really like. And both are by Kishore Kumar and both are under SDB only.

Firstly, it is Kishore Kumar suddenly launching in a comical voice into "Dheerennn Sennnn Jaaannnna Bbbaggiyannnn Mein Rrrre Bhhhhawaannnnnraaaa", during the song, "Panch Rupaiya Bara Ana" in Film:Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi.

Next, once again SDB composes in 1973 a full-fledged parody of this in Film:Chupa Rustom. "Dheere Se Jaana Khatiyan Mein O Khatmal", once again by KK.

Chupa Rustom was very much in my mind. Already included Chalti Ka Naam Gadi, but some how forgot to include 'dheere se jaana khatiyan mein' song.

In the audio 'zindagi bhar nahin' starts at 1:43min; it is followed by the following stanzas:

Exon ..there is a Rafi/Asha Duet, I cant remember name of the movie but has a song goes like..."Laal batti Ka Nishan Niche Paan Ki Dukan Mere Payar Ka Makaam Saiya Yaad Rakhna". The song is based on CID song..."Leke Pehla Pehla Pyar Bhar Ke Aankhon Mein Khumar". I can not find Rafi/Asha duet. Requesting forum members to upload this song.

Unlike most songs, "Pyar kiya to darna kya" from Mughal-e-ajam is the only one to have two full length parody songs based on it. One of them from 'Raton Ka Raja' is in your list. The following from 1967 Rajesh khanna-Babita starrer 'Raaz' is less well known.

IMHO, parody songs have modified lyrics and have the same tune as their original version. They can be parody of a single song as in 'dheere se jaana katiyan mein' or chain of parodies as in Johar in Goa or Ek Phool Do Maali songs.

I have not heard "Meri Ghaghri Mein Ghoongharoo Laga", but these are songs based on common nearby wordings and can not be considered as "PARODY SONGS".

Here is some clarification.
A parody song is one
(a) whose tune is copied from one or more earlier song(s) and
(b ) whose lyrics is an imitation of lyrics from one or more earlier song(s).

Therefore, to call a song as parody we need to know the following.

1. What is the original song of a parody?

2. Is it's tune a copy of the original?

3. Is it's lyrics an imitation of the original song lyrics?

In this thread, we have been following this simple definition for identifying a parody song.

If a song simply contains many movie names, it may not justify as a parody song. Similarly, if a song uses the same tune as an earlier song, but does not imitate the lyrics, it may not qualify as a parody either.

Nearly all parody songs listed in this thread were identified by other members and not by me.

I have updated the list as and when members (including yourself) post song details. I am unable to scrutinize each parody song listed here. I am not a native hindi speaker and have been living away for a long time. Some songs listed as parody could be in error. There are also a few song additions that I have not incorporated into the main list. I am hoping, gradually members will come forward and confirm them as parody.

This is not parody, the portion I thought was parody
